I always seem to have trouble finding shoes that fit comfortably, so I bought two pairs. These Florsheim Penny Loafers and a nearly identical pair from another brand. I ended up returning the Florsheim's because they were stiff and felt narrow. It is possibly they would have been comfortable after a breaking in period, but the other brand was comfortable right out the box so I kept those instead.

Not at all like they appeared online. Very shiny and slippery. Also very narrow. My husband couldn't even get them on his feet. Not the Florsheim i remember.

YA HOO I Love these shoes I only have 5 pair!! They are my Shag shoe,(North Caroline Dance), everyday, about town and dress, they allow me to slide across the floor with easy and smothness on the leather soles. I have had 3 sets of soles put on my everday pair the uppers have lasted that long. Breaking in a new pair has been a dream, just put them on without socks and--JAZAM-- I Dance away But of couse not the whole night!! The way they shine up would put a smile on my old drill sargeants face. You might have issues with these shoes but I give them 120% SATISFACTION!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by ROBIN1954 FLORSHEIM Berkeley Man's Slip on Loafer
I BOUGHT THESE IN AN EXTRA EXTRA WIDE, FIGURING THEY'D FIT A MAN WITH LARGE FEET THAT SWELL. HE COULDN'T EVEN GET THEM ON, WHEN HIS FEET WERE NORMAL SIZED. PLUS THE SOLES ARE VERY VERY SLIPPERY, SO WATCH OUT IF YOU ARE BUYING THEM FOR A PERSON WITH MOBILITY ISSUES. THE SHOES ARE VERY GOOD LOOKING IN THE AD, BUT THEY ARE SO THIN, IT'S ALMOST CHEAPLY MADE.
BETTER OFF BUYING SHOES IN A SHOE STORE WHERE YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU'RE GETTING .

Rated 5 out of 5 by ClassicG3 It's all about being CLASSIC!
I always have to have a pair of penny loafers for certain occasions.. Many penny loafers these days are just not "what they used to be". Fortunately, my new Florsheims are exactly "what they used to be". I was thrilled to find them at Penney's. They always last me a long time and they have maintained the "CLASSIC" look I wanted with the "beef-roll" etc. I am thrilled but I expected as much from Florsheim and JCP..

I would not recommend Florshiem shoes to anyone. They used to be great but now they look like they were made by little kids. The stitching isn't even and the soles don't seem to be good leather any more. Maybe they are using blended leather or some other composite. But again, they are one of the few shoes I can find in an extra wide so I have to put up with them until I can find sutiable substitutes.

My husband is very hard on shoes, and these are not only comfortable, they hold a shine and stay nice-looking much longer than any other shoes we've tried, He often finds some styles too tight across his instep - these are not. Classic style is a plus, too. We bought the burgundy first, then ordered the black because he liked them so well.
