Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features and warm! Initially I bought another coat over this solely for the color. I exchanged it for this one for function. I love that it snaps just up to my neck, then has three more snaps that snug the hood with it's optional fur trim. When snapped to the neck it doesn't poke me around my chin like other coats, but lets the hood fall to the front like a collar, and is soft. I an snap any or all of the three snaps for the hood to either keep just my ears warm, or all to snug around my head and face. The hood doesn't have a drawstring, which I like, and is not detachable. I haven't removed the faux fur trim but it is attached with buttons to remove. I'll probably do that for warmer weather. It is surprisingly warm for a lightweight, thinner coat. It isn't waterproof though, but a nice soft microfiber. The sleeves have knitted cuffs inside with thumb holes that keep your wrists warm and can go over the thumb of a glove for added warmth. They can also be tucked inside I guess it does run a bit large- I got an extra large primarily for room at the bottom. The large fit nicely but like every other coat I tried was snug at the bottom I do wish the zipper was the kind that could zip in both directions like on the original styled parkas. I haven't seen that on coats anymore. As always, look for coupons and sales. I am very happy with this coat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the style and the look. Plus it has lots of extra pockets, material is easy to keep clean. Warm to -13 degrees and the price was outstanding! My old jacket was over 24 years old and I loved it. Did not want to replace it but the zipper broke and could not be replaced. Went to JC Penny in the hopes of finding a new one. Did I ever! very similar although more modern and far more features. I know from previous use of the material used that the jacket is easy to maintain and has a lot more pockets. It also is temperature rated at -13 degrees. Along snug cuffs to keep wind from getting in, along with pull string snugging feature in the jacket it self. Very excited to have found such a great coat the price was great also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every "Penney." This jacket/parka is AWESOME. I will not write a review unless I feel that it is worth my time, and it is, because I can't stop thinking about how much I LOVE this jacket! I live in SO CAL and I was looking for a utilitarian type jacket for "SO CAL cold" and specifically the rain, that is low-maintenance (wash--NO dry clean), and PETITE size. I am roughly 4'11 1/2 and medium build--size 4 normally, 2 sometimes, 0 if I'm lucky =) so its always been a challenge to find adult clothes that fit lengthwise. Its hard to alter jackets, so I made sure to find a petite size. I looked for a reasonably priced jacket, in this style, in a petite and this was the only brand that fit the bill. The pictures don't really do this jacket justice in my opinion, since it does not depict the details of this jacket very well (hopefully, the attached pictures will give you a better idea). Because let me tell you, for the price of the jacket I paid, it was really worth every "Penney"--for a non-designer brand, it is extremely well-made, and a pleasant surprise. First of all, thank you JC Penney for the petite size! With the exception of the sleeves being slightly longer for me (although its not too bad since the cuffs go in--which, btw, has a thumb slit--automatic fingerless gloves!), it fits pretty well. The length is about 2 in above my knees, and its neither too loose, nor tight for a size 4P. I pulled the waist drawstrings for a more fitted look to flatter my frame. The lining is lightly quilted, which is perfect for SO CAL cold weather (and Starbucks, lol), although I'm confident that I could wear it in colder climates with layers. There are BOTH snaps and a zipper closure for the jacket--pick one, the other, or both! The material is not only water-resistant, but its not made of that annoyingly shiny material. Instead, its an extremely soft, matte clotth that feels like peach fuzz! The hood is HUGE, and besides the fact that it looks like a large collar when its down (btw the jacket also has a fitted collar when the jacket is closed up) I love the fact that you can remove the fur lining (which I did since its raining)--although its thick and luxurious, I'd hate to have that around my shoulders dripping wet, so its a nice option. I am a pocket enthusiast. Not only are there the 2 pockets on the breast, which are fist-sized ( no zipper, its deep enough so its not extremely necessary), as well as 2 outer snap pockets, which are big enough to fit an iPhone plus, but those pockets have hidden side pockets BEHIND them! Pocket heaven! And for a jacket to have such functionality, on top of that, its actually STYLISH. My style of dress tends to be feminine, yet edgy, and again, this jacket totally fits the bill. Keep the fur on, and cinch the waist for a feminine look, yet the silver studs say edge--in fact, if you look closely, the studs look like the tops of flat-head screwdriver nails (not sure what they're called, lol)! I love studded details, and for someone who always looks for that, that is honestly the first time I ever saw buttons like that. The only thing I can say is the fact that I'm not sure how well its going to hold up (since I only had it a week), but once this jacket goes on a crazy sale again, I not only intend to buy one for my mom, but I will most likely buy another one for myself--I like it THAT MUCH =) JC Penney needs to continue making quality products like this, because this is a jacket was meant for someone like me--quality for a good price, over designer brand, hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adorable Winter Coat After seeing this coat featured in a magazine, I got it on sale online and was kind of worried about the outcome. But it is PERFECT! Even better than the pictures. Thank you JCP for carrying it in tall too! It is so versatile, so fashionable, and so well designed--built in knit cuffs for your hands, fully lined inside for warmth, genius pocket designs. And though the website doesn't say so, the fur is detachable. It's so darn adorable! I loved JCPenney as a kid, and you just won me back! Thanks!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket! My husband bought me a beautiful coat from JCP last year that I absolutely love. However, it's too nice to just throw on to run to the grocery store when you're in work-around-the-house clothes! Looks kinda stupid! I also have plenty of JCP hoodies that I love as well, but nothing in-between as far as looking nice but casual. This jacket fits the bill perfectly! It's been freezing cold here in Kansas and the hoodies just weren't keeping me warm enough. I love the feel of this, both inside and out, and the hood is awesome when this dang wind is blowing 50 mph! Not sure if you can see it in the picture, but this jacket has snaps that secure the hood around your neck if you're using it. Much better than those with the hood that flies off with the first gust of wind! This jacket is really warm (we've got temps in the single digits right now, not including the wind chill), it fits well and slightly curves in with your figure instead of just hanging straight and making you look fat! It works great with those clothes you are wearing while painting the ceiling at home and you need to run a quick errand, but it also looks nice enough to wear with business-casual clothes. The outer material is very soft, kind of feels like a buttery "suede-ish" type of fabric. The inside is the regular silky type of lining, but it's quilted and slightly padded so it keeps you warm but it's not real bulky. I absolutely HATE wearing bulky clothing, especially when I'm driving, and this is the first jacket I've found that looks nice, isn't annoying while driving, and is still very warm. Yay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat I'm tall, 5'10", and this coat is very comfortable. The sleeves are comfortably long and do not pull up while driving. It is slightly fitted at the waist so it doesn't look straight up and down but still manages to cover the few extra pounds I've put on. It was a spur of the moment purchase, saw it while out doing holiday returns and tried it on because I really liked the look. It felt like a perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it was just what I wanted I am tall, I tried this on, the sleeves were actually long enough!! the length, perfect, to the top of legs, I zipped it up, perfect, like it was custom made for me!. I have only worn it once to go see Christmas lights, I was toasty warm, then I went shopping, heat stroke, LOL, this is a warm coat & I am 100% satisfied & happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice coat for a great price. The sizes are off a bit as I had to get an XL as the shoulder area on the large would not fit me. I am not a big person as I have had a large coat for many years & it has room for shoulders & hips. So, whoever is making these coats nowadays are just not getting the sizes accurate. They must be small people..

Does this coat run small? Ana clothing usually runs on the smaller side.

Cold weather rated

I purchased this coat and it has a cold weather rating to -13 degrees. I am trying to verify this online and the write up does not mention it. How can I find out the rating info other than looking at the tag that was attached to the garment?
Asked by: Eilene
I didn't see anything about the rating (I bought mine in-store), but I live in Kansas where we get wind-chill factors well below -20 and this really keeps me warm! I usually wear a regular T-shirt underneath, not even a long-sleeved shirt, and still stay warm! So, rating or not, it works for ME!
