I am the one who asked the question. How do you know, unless it is on the box or shoe? As I said, a lot of athletic shoes are now being made of synthetic materials, even pricier ones, and I have looked at a good many lately trying to find a good fit.(New Balance, Nike, Sketchers, etc.) All the leather ones I have seen have leather written inside the tongue, and the synthetic ones do not state what the uppers are made of. I have this same shoe but several years old. That pair is leather, and states it. The new ones do not. The newer synthetic materials look and feel like leather, but are hotter when you wear them. I am just wondering if the manufacturer has changed materials, but Penney's has not updated their on-line description.
