The drawers on the Bedford Baby Monterey 5 drawer dresser only open halfway. The safety catches prevent the drawers from opening much at all. I thought this was normal at first, but after seeing some reviews, I think this is defective. Is there a way to fix this?
Nursery dressers have strict anti-tipping regulations. These items have safety stops on the drawers to prevent a small child from opening the top drawers all the way and pulling up.
Below are the instructions from the manufacturer.
This Westwood chest has state-of-the-art center mounted ball bearing drawer tracks. These tracks have a memory.
If your drawers do not pull out at least 2/3 length of the drawer, give them a bit of a tug to reset the memory of the track system.
This is best accomplished by taking everything off the top of the unit, opening the drawer and grasping it in the middle, and giving it a strong tug, or series of tugs until the drawer reaches the 2/3 extension.
These drawers also have a "stop" to keep them from falling out. To remove a drawer, follow the steps above past the 2/3 extension until the drawer comes all the way out. To replace it, simply line up the tracks and push the drawer in. The stop will reset itself.
