COLOR
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Picture of "Neutral" version online very misleading in color The quality of the fabric is good, as reported in other reviews I read before ordering, however the color of the "Neutral" version is much darker, with more camel colored instead of cream stripes, and deep shades of blues, browns, and even red too. I was looking for a lighter look, and this definitely isn't. I wish Penneys carried more bedspreads in the stores, even just a sample of the fabric, so I'd know what to order. Since I need a twin size, there are very few stocked in the stores close to me, and many of the ones I liked in the sales catalog were not stocked in any size-only available online.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from mixed review I have been eyeing this set for months and finally took the plunge and purchased the bedspread, curtains, and valance. Well, as I have read in other reviews, the bedspread (I ordered a KING for our king sized bed) was HUGE! Did not look good with 6-12" hanging on the floor. I even 'flipped' it and then it was way too long by the foot board. I debated ordering a Queen, but went with the king size QUILT. Perfect fit. Also just a thin as the bedspread. My husband & I don't like a heavy comforter, so the quilt will work and it has brightened up our dull bedroom. The curtains.........very wrinkled out of the package and I like to wash things prior to use, so I followed the directions TO THE TEE. They curtains shrunk, A LOT and they are going back. Haven't received the valances yet and am hoping they are alot better than the curtains panels. I was VERY disappointed that they shrunk so bad, I would say a good 6", which is A LOT. They were also an ironing nightmare!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Before buying this, I read some complaints about threads/seams coming undone but thought I'd take a chance anyway. Mine did arrive with loose threads but I decided to keep it anyway knowing I can cut any unraveled threads and repair any critical seams with my sewing machine. It didn't seem to get any worse after using it for 2 weeks, even after washing and drying it to get the chemical smell out. But...our dog unexpectedly jumped up on the bed yesterday, only for a moment, but it was enough to put 4-5 pea-sized holes in the top layer of fabric so the batting shows through. I never expected this to be made from *rugged* fabric but it certainly shouldn't have torn open the way it did from our dog, whose claws are maintained. I would return it at this point but I've already hemmed it because is was a few inches too wide. I may try to repair the holes but I'm not very hopeful this overpriced, low-quality bedspread will last for any length of time. What a waste of money!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great after my help! I bought a pair of these for a redo of my home office. I liked the stripes and they do look very nice with my slate blue room and dark wood furniture. However, as other customers have indicated, they are very, very thin even though they are lined - the lining is also thin. I also bought 2 of the valences since the drapes hang on either side of a wide window. The valences are of a good weight. However, both the drapery panels and the valences were very uneven in length. I had to shorten the drapes anyway and add a thermal lining (I made it), so I made the drape panels even when shortened them and then I sewed the lining to the top of the back side of the panels. Because the valences were also very uneven, I had to take them apart and make them more even before I could join them together to make a very wide valance. I had planned to just join the 2 valences by lightly stitching them together. :-( Getting the panels and valence ready to hang turn-out to be a rather large project!! Fortunately, I know how to sew!!! - and I am retired!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Jewel Retro Chick "Bedspread" I admit that I'm very disappointed in this "bedspread". Frankly, it's just slightly larger than a quilt or comforter. I expect a bedspread to come to the floor or at least close (it's approx 6-8 inches above the bed frame). I expect a bedspread to cover the pillows but it's not big enough. I don't plan on returning it and it will still get used. But next time I order a bedspread I'll take measurements before I order.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointment We just bought a new mattress with one of those low profile boxsprings and didn't realize that bed skirts would now be way too long. So getting a bedspread seemed like the perfect solution. The one good thing about this product is that it is generously sized. It hits the floor on both sides of the bed. However, there are so many things that are disappointing about this bedspread. First, the color is not how it appeared in the picture. I bought neutral because it looked muted and like it had a decent amount of ivory in it. The actual color is much more bold with little ivory. Plus, they never show you what the reverse side looks like. It is striped but with different colors that clash with the side you can see. The bedspread had a terrible chemical smell so I was forced to send it to the cleaners. Like other reviewers had stated, it feel apart at the seems (in multiple places) with just one washing. This thing wasn't cheap. I expected something with better quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shrank like crazy! Washed and dried per label, but the daybed cover shrank at least four inches in width and six in length. I tried it on the bed before I washed it and if fit perfectly, but now it looks ridiculous-- it reminds me of high-water trousers. I'm stuck with it because I have guests arriving tomorrow and need something to dress the bed with, otherwise I'd return it. I'll fill the gap between the cover and the floor with a hastily improvised bed skirt, but I'm not pleased at all to have to do that, especially considering the price of the daybed cover. The massive shrinkage is very disappointing because the colors are perfect (I bought Jewel) and the cotton is nice and soft. I washed and dried the shams with the cover, yet the shams didn't shrink at all. I had planned on purchasing the coordinating pillows and throw, but certainly won't bother now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved the color, hate there's a flaw Before ordering this bed spread and the pillow shams on line I went to the store to decide on the color and to see if they had bed spreads which they did not. I read all the online reviews and have to agree with them. The bed spread is huge, even reaches the floor on a bed with a 24" drop that nothing is ever big enough. Like another review, I had the spread on the bed for a week before noticing that there is a place about 3" long where the fabric was not stitched. I thought about sending it back but have waited since I placed my order in April for this bed spread! The pillow shams arrived in May and are fine. I debated about sending them back and canceling the order but the colors are so great for my bed room. Hopefully I can repair the problem. I have waited since April on my order. In July I get a call that my bedspread was now at the store with a warning that it had to be picked up in 10 days! I do love the weight of the bed spread and that it is so large....can't recommend the wait and that I have a defect in the product that others have also had.

Answer:
That is the Jewel color. The light source (natural/daylight shining on it, an incandescent light, LED light, fluorescent light) changes the colors. In daylight they look more muted, at night time, under lights, the colors look brighter. The colors are not too garish, they are beautiful earth tones.

I ordered what was supposed to be like the one in the bedspread box and it was nothing like it. I had ordered the blue before and it, too, was nothing like it. I've come to the conclusion that the picture is a bit misrepresentative of the colors.

Is the Jewel Retro Striped Bedspread a 3 piece set?

Answer:
No--Whether you get the quilt (the dimensions are too short) or the bedspread (not heavy like the quilt, and the dimension are good) they do not come with the accessories shown, which you order separately (the 18" oblong pillow is just a print on flat fabric, no texture, and it's not the same as the quilt or bedspread). The sham pillows are the same as the quilt & bedspread.

Answer:
No. It's just a heavy weight reversable bedspread. If you want pillows, curtains or anything else, you have to buy them separate.
