Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice look but quality lacking These look really nice especially for the price. I have no problems with raising and lowering the shades like others have complained of. However, my biggest complaint is how much light they let through. I know they arent light fliltering or designed to be blackout shades but on a bright day it feels like it's hardly doing anything. Also, for us the sizes weren't available in the standard size we had before so we went down an inch and maybe I wish we went up an inch instead for better coverage of the entire window.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flawed device on shades make them impossible to use. These looked beautiful on my windows...absolutely perfect. After two weeks of gentle use, the nylon cords on the underside of the shade broke, making it impossible to pull the shade up or down. They are now useless and I am left wondering how such a product can continue to be sold through Penney's when this was a known issue. I read some of the reviews before purchasing which cited this problem, but hoped it was an anomaly. It wasn't.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buyer beware! I purchased 12 of these for a new home we just built for the kitchen and family room. As of today I am returning I think number 5 or 6. Most because the cordless nylon strings snapped on them and one because it was so crooked we couldn't even use it. These blinds look nice and would probably be ok in an area where they are going to stay stationary all the time but if you plan on using them somewhere where they would actually need to be raised and lowered I would definitely think twice. As more break I will be replacing them with other binds maybe a corded variety.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shade I have had many bamboo shades but even the made to order ones that have cords have broken. This is a quality shade and ease of operation exceded my expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointed I bought 4 of these shades. One broke (the thin cords that allow the shade to go up and down) within the year. JCP replaced it. Now less than a year after that 2 shades broke the same way. The cords are not strong enough to support these shades. I do not know if I can return both of these shades, but I have not yet tried. The smaller windows are fine, but the larger ones are not working out and the price was not cheap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice blinds, but deceptive coloring. I am enjoying my new blinds and they would have gotten one more star if they were the color depicted online. They are much more of an auburn orange red color, and in the light, even more so. Online photo looked very neutral brown, which was what i was expecting. Plus, in the very middle of the largest blind, there is one reed that is missing color..like the stain used missed this spot and there is no stain at all across it. I will have to touch it up myself somehow. You could not see this until the blinds were up, installed and unrolled. That being said, they were still a good value for the sale price. I do not think I would have purchased them at full price though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Look for Great Price I order these blinds a couple weeks ago and love them. They arrived faster than expected and in great condition. They were easy to install. I was able to put up 6 of them in about an hour and a half. My husband loves the cordless feature about them. They do a good job of blocking out a majority of sunlight while still letting some in, which was perfect for our living room. If you are looking for complete darkness these shades are not ideal. I gave it lower marks for durability as I've only had them for a week and I'm not sure how durable they will be. So far so good. They look great. And for the price, they are really a great deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and Pretty We are loving this new addition to our living room. It fits just perfect with the decor with a great natural looking wood. The cordless feature is just a dream with small children and cats! I would definitely recommend this product.

Can these blinds be mounted on the outside? On the window molding?

For inside mount, can these be mounted from the top? We have three windows within one frame, so we need to mount them from the inside top moulding.

Asked by: lp08456
Yes, I have metal framed windows and my shades were mounted inside next to the window and from the top. it was also metal on top, around the windows, but it worked perfectly. The screws provided and brackets did a perfect job.

How much light does it block? I want one that does not let too much light through.

This is for my sons room. I like the look of bamboo but it needs to block at least 75% of morning sunlight.
Asked by: Mary
It blocks about 85% I'd say. You can still see flickers of light inbetween the thin wooden reeds since they are wood and not possible to be on top of each other. You have to expect a bit of glimmer of light through, but it's pretty much darkened. If you want total darkness...you need a fabric shade or some woven material.
