COLOR OPTIONS

select a color:

Saratoga cut--to-width blackout shade features a light-blocking layer sandwiched between two layers of vinyl for privacy and light control. Note: Roller shades will be slightly narrower than the width ordered; to avoid the resulting light gap on each side and to achieve maximum privacy and light control, consider outside mount.

  • cordless product safe for homes with young children and pets
  • reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 25%*
  • cut to the exact width you need from 15" to 73¼" wide
  • embossed vinyl with the look of fabric
  • fringed bottom hem
  • white on street side except ivory which is the same color on both sides
  • heavy-duty spring roller mechanism allows you to adjust shade to any height

Fits windows up to 64" long. Inside or outside casing installation. Window must be at least ¾" deep for inside mount, 2¼" deep for flush inside mount. Mounting hardware and instructions included. Shades wipe clean with a damp cloth. Imported.

To Order: You will be able to specify the exact width you need for your shade. For inside mount, subtract 1/8" from your overall width to account for mounting brackets.

Note: If you are ordering more than one shade within the same size range and want the shades cut to different widths, you must place each shade in the shopping bag separately.

Spring motor roller shades are manufactured with approximately 8” of extra fabric added to the length. This is required for the proper operation of the spring activated roller mechanism.

FREE SWATCH: If you would like to receive a swatch of the fabric prior to ordering the item, please e-mail customerservice@phaseii.com to receive a sample swatch of fabric. Please include your name, address, item description and color that corresponds with your selection. Allow 5 days to receive the swatch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by better for smaller windows i had these in my room growing up and they held up well, even with my sister and i both using the shade every day. we had them for about 10 yrs before i moved out. now, i bought them for my sons' rooms and although i like the look, price, and overall performance, i'm dissappointed in them for a couple reasons. they seem to get harder and harder to roll up and down over time. i noticed this with mine growing up, but it seems worse with one of the 2 shades i purchased. also, my 2 yr old has easily ripped the edges on his just by pulling the shade back to look out the window. i also just tore a big hole in the center of his shade yesterday when i was trying to pull it down. the only explaination i can think of for that would be the size of his window. it's large, so i have a full 73 1/4" shade in there- the biggest they make. it bows when you pull it down. so i guess the stress of the length along with the fact that it was stuck, was just too much, so it ripped in the center. they do a very good job at blocking out the light. which is great in my kids rooms as they were both nurseries. but there is a gap at the top which lets light in. (see pic) i'd definately buy these again for a smaller window. but wouldn't recommend them for a large window. December 15, 2008
Rated 5 out of 5 by These are exactly what I wanted - read fit tips here I have 3 windows, side by side, separate openings in drywall. 2 are 35" (+/- 1/8) the other is 35 1/4. So I ordered the 35" exactly for all 3 hoping for the best. The vinyl part (the actual shade) is about 33 1/2. The remainder is for brackets. The shade itself has an insert that has a bit of a spring to allow you to push it in to the bracket. All 3 fit nicely. The 35 1/4 window needed a little shim behind the bracket (small scrap of plexiglass used) to make tight fit. We mounted the brackets on the inside of the window, but up against the sides (vs. the top) as I only wanted these on the bottom half of the window (see pic). The fringe gives it a prettier look over the plain. I ordered the chocolate truffle color and goes great with JCP Home woven wood dark walnut roman shades. I love this look. Goodbye ratty curtains! Oh and my husband says you are suppose to wind shades first to ensure good spring. I bet that is somewhere in directions. September 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value when purchased on sale, measuring tricky I initially ordered these before Thanksgiving during a good sale and ended up waiting until December 24th for delivery, as they suddenly became backordered after purchasing when they were showing as available on the site and in my cart. I was very annoyed by this, frankly. They arrived in flimsy packaging and thankfully were not damaged - they should be shipped in a hard container. As soon as I pulled one out I knew it was the wrong size (too small), but hung it anyway to see if maybe they would work. Hanging was very simple and the hardware provided is nice. There was a gap of at least 1" on each side, letting the light in from the sides and looking poorly fitted in general. After waiting about 5 weeks I was not pleased to see that they were undersized by an inch. The only positive part was the excellent customer service I received when returning in the Manchester, CT store - they were wonderful. I went home and re-ordered the same shades but ADDED 1/8 of an inch to the measurement rather than subtracting and probably could have gone up slightly more. The new blinds fit much better and when I picked them up in the Manchester, CT store I again had a great service experience. (Oddly enough they shipped and were ready for pickup in less than a week.) I will say that the color is exactly as shown on the site. My mother has these shades in her house, purchased many moons ago, and these newer ones are definitely a poorer quality, which is disappointing as JCP has always had excellent quality items. All in all, I would make the same purchase again but would not pay the full price for these. My suggestion would be to not subtract anything and possibly add a bit when measuring to ensure a better fit. If possible, pick up in the store to ensure that your shades aren't damaged by a 3rd party carrier. January 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by check width carefully, stylish shade in nice color option I chose the brown shade for an office space to take care of morning glare on my computer screen. They look stylish but I have some issues with the sides curling in, thus the lack of cold air control. Mine were ordered to fit, but not wide enough for the window. I think this is due to the extra width for the bracket. I had to hang mine on the woodwork above the window so they hang farther from the glass than I prefer, but it takes care of my glare. I caution you to check the brackets and see where you can mount your hardware and still get the fit you prefer. Otherwise a good value when I purchased them on sale. Ordering was easy and convenient. Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Cutting to Size I had to order this shade four times to finally get one that was cut without being all choppy and I still had to trim that one a little with scissors in a couple places. These are nice shades, however, when being cut to size, someone is doing a terrible job these days. September 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 3rd Purchase-very happy I have bought these roller shades for 3 different rooms. I love the quality. My dining room shades have been up for 10 yrs and they look as great as when I bought them. They are sturdy even with everyday use. I am looking forward to being able to sleep in a little because they are def. a good light blocker. I had these cut to an outside diameter. March 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My blind is great I was recently in JC Penneys to add another curtain to put on my kitchen door to match my window curtains. My curtains were discontinued so I needed to find something for my kitchen door that would match my curtains. The sales lady helped me find my blind and she put the order in for me. It was a special order. I received it very quickly and put it up. It goes very well with my blue curtains and it fits perfectly and it opens and closes perfectly everyday. I really love it. Thank you Penneys and thank you to my sales lady. January 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just Perfect! These shades are all they said they were and more! When I want privacy (and light blocking) they get the job done. When I want to see out the window, the beautiful scalloping along the bottom of the shade dresses up the window inside and out. Very good quality that should last for a long time to come. Answer:
I have this shade in my spare bedroom where light comes in all the time and I also use this room for my sleeping 11 month old grandson when he takes his naps and the shade blocks out 99% of the sun. I also have another just like it but in a lighter color in my great room and it blocks out all the sun that comes in from the east in the mornings. They are great shades at a great price. I got mine on sale plus used the reward coupons for great savings. I would recommend these shades. They also roll up and down good. Luckytee

I have this shade in a light color (cream/ivory) and a dark color. Both are light blocking and are good for keeping daylight out so someone can sleep.

Answer:
they seem to block all light in my son's very bright room. Go for an outside mount though, then you won't have the side gaps that are inevitable with inside mount.
Beware, mine had a couple of small cuts in the material, which I fixed by putting a piece of white tape (the kind you'd find in a first aid kit) on the back. It doesn't show agaisn't the back, and it is thick enough that you can't even tell there is a cut.

Answer:
Measure the inside of the window from side to side or just measure your existing blind to find your correct measurement. When you special order a windowshade or blind, JCPenney.com will tell you how to measure them from a chart. I hope this helps out. All my windowshades were special order and my husband helped me figure out just exactly what size we would need. Luckytee

measure across the top to the nearest 1/4 inch. It would be easier to measure the window, especially for length.

Yes, It easily comes off without damaging the roller or the shade. I cut mine to size and taped it back on with clear packing tape. Worked great.

I took down an old blind and want to use the same hardware.
Do I measure the old blind and include the tips that stick out on each end to get the correct measure. Or do i measure the blind itself from end to end. Or do I measure from end to end of the roller and not include the tips on the end

Answer:
Are you talking about a blind or a shade? The reason I ask is because you mention a 'roller' in your question. If you are referring to a shade, then you would just measure the shade itself. I know I probably shouldn't ask this but...why are you wanting to use the old hardware? To be on the safe side, if possible I would take it to an home improvement store to make certain. Good luck.
