PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Saratoga cut--to-width blackout shade features a light-blocking layer sandwiched between two layers of vinyl for privacy and light control. Note: Roller shades will be slightly narrower than the width ordered; to avoid the resulting light gap on each side and to achieve maximum privacy and light control, consider outside mount.

  • cordless product safe for homes with young children and pets
  • cut to the exact width you need from 15" to 73¼" wide
  • embossed vinyl with the look of fabric
  • fringed bottom hem
  • white on street side except ivory which is the same color on both sides
  • heavy-duty spring roller mechanism allows you to adjust shade to any height

Fits windows up to 64" long. Inside or outside casing installation. Window must be at least ¾" deep for inside mount, 2¼" deep for flush inside mount. Mounting hardware and instructions included. Shades wipe clean with a damp cloth. Imported.

To Order: You will be able to specify the exact width you need for your shade. For inside mount, subtract 1/8" from your overall width to account for mounting brackets.

Note: If you are ordering more than one shade within the same size range and want the shades cut to different widths, you must place each shade in the shopping bag separately.

Spring motor roller shades are manufactured with approximately 8” of extra fabric added to the length. This is required for the proper operation of the spring activated roller mechanism.

FREE SWATCH: If you would like to receive a swatch of the fabric prior to ordering the item, please e-mail customerservice@phaseii.com to receive a sample swatch of fabric. Please include your name, address, item description and color that corresponds with your selection. Allow 5 days to receive the swatch.

*Cost savings represent the relative cost of heating or cooling an area to account for heat lost or gained through a window. Savings reflect comparison to a bare single-pane window. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad for price Timing had it that we got these shades at a tremendous discount. They've been fine so far. The material is thinner than the shades that were on the windows before, so time will tell how well they hold up. The main problem we had was in ordering them. They were custom sizes so we followed the guidelines on the MEASURE tab at the link, "helpful blinds and shades guide" to measure them. For an outside mount (which we have), the only instruction given for measuring the width is, "measure exactly where the window covering with be." We took that to mean the width of the fabric part, and they came in way too short. After several phone calls and discussions with different sales people at JCP.com and the stores (who all gave different instructions), we took the word of one of them and measured from the tip of the fixed flat pin to the tip of the pin on the other side WITH IT PUSHED IN ALL THE WAY. JCP took back the old shades and reordered them for us with the new measurements, and they came in at the correct size.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheaply Made and Not Blackout! I am a night nurse and therefore sleep days. I was excited to have "blackout" blinds so that I might start sleeping better. I received these blinds and they were cheaply made. The roller is made of cardboard and they were bent so of course they won't roll closed. They also let a tremendous amount of light in even though they are "custom cut". I will be throwing them away and hanging blankets back over my windows until I have time to find another option. Don't waste your money or time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from mad I ordered TWO of the EXACT same size and one is 1/2" shorter than the other one - Really!?!?!?!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Workmanship was terrible These shades are sturdy for the value and price. Although, we custom ordered a size and were extremely disappointed. The ends were cut with tears, uneven, and jagged like a puzzle piece. We ordered these for our high school boy's bedroom. Very disappointing, I would never hang these up, as it looked like a toddler got a hold of the scissors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from mostly good I ordered three shades. Two worked well - although the piece that slides into a casing at the bottom of the shade to pull it up or down was cut too long in all shades. The dark gray flat rod extended out past the white shade and against the white window. The third shade came slightly bent, making it difficult to roll up and down. Also - It was cut very sloppily, with an obvious jagged edge all the way up the right side. The pull rod that slides in was the longest on this one - protruding out past the width of the shade by an inch. I ordered another one to replace the unfortunate shade - and will return it for a refund once the replacement is received and in place.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I know many people had good experience with these blinds. Since this was new construction, I was very disappointed in the company who sized the final cut, from what I gave them, as not fitting and covering my window properly. They ended up taking an overall total of 1 1/4" more off, which completely exposed my frame. Plus, the cutting was not even on both sides and each side only covered right to the edge of the glass, at frame and didn't extend covering the window frame. This causes light to escape on the sides. According to the description in how to measure, which I've done before professionally, it stated that you should take 1/8" off of the total width of window for inside mounting. I did that. Window measured 22 7/8" and after taking off 1/8", it ended being 22 3/4". I can't image taking off 1/8" on each side, as some have commented to do. Then 1/4th of my glass would've been exposed on each side...geez! I figured since the blinds were so cheap in price,(love the scalloped fringe) I'd deal with it and later ordered something much better. Now as far as the blackout! what blackout? NOT blackout as light still comes through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely bargain I really like these scalloped shades- they block light, they're heavy weight so they seem that they will be durable, and the bottom trim is quite lovely. Considering the low price, they are elegant and good quality. Only disappointment for me- we use them as an inside mount. They fit precisely in the brackets as ordered, but the shades themselves are narrower. I suppose if you REALLY want black out you'd need an outside mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like this product I was very happy with the shades themselves however, very disappointed with the cutting. One shade was supposed to be 32-3/4" & the other was supposed to be 32-5/8". The packages were marked with those sizes but they were short & when we measured them they were 31". Had to return them to the store where the clerk double-checked the sizes & then re-ordered them for me - hope the new ones are correct.

I had very similar shades from Penny's for 20 years and there was very little if any curl. Maybe a few had a 1/4 inch of curl but not more. These new one's we mounted about 2 weeks ago are about the same so far.

Answer:
I've purchased 8 of these shades. Although I don't have to use the full length, I've had no issue with them curling. There are a few roll "ripples" when first hung, but they straighten out quickly. I think these are great shades for the price. I've had 4 of them for several years and they have held up well. Because I liked those so well, I recently purchased 4 more. I hope this helps!

Answer:
I would estimate at least 1/2 inch on either end - so about an inch or more - I would rather have it too wide than not enough - the one I purchases was wider than the window which ended up being fine was it didn't allow any light in at all!

Answer:
There is almost an inch on each end between the tip of the roller and the start of the shade. When I ordered, I measured the width inside my windows and ordered that width of shade. I don't think they count the ends in the sizing. My blinds fit perfectly inside my windows and the metal hangers actually flare out a bit outside the window so that makes the blind fit inside the window with the metal ends just outside the window frame. Hope this helps.

measure the inside distance. Subtract 1/8" & order that size. If ordering more than one blind label the window with a piece of masking tape & measurement so you know which blind goes in which window.

I ordered 27" and they sent me 25" so I am not sure how they measure. Now I have to return it and reorder. My measurement was for the fabric part only so it's possible they measured the 27" from metal to metal.

WOW a half an inch is quite a bit. I think mine were probably a quarter of an inch to wide and I hit (carefully) the flat round silver part (NOT the pointed tips) on each end with a hammer. Pushed them in just enough to work. Hope you don't have to go through returning yours. Good luck.
