Rated 4 out of 5 by Pleased with these pretty wood blinds! I ordered four pairs of these wood blinds in the color, Oak Mantel. I am pleased with my purchase. The blinds look great. They really changed the look of the rooms that I hung them in. The color, Oak Mantel, is a nice shade. The blinds I received seem to be a bit darker than the JC Penney catalog photo, but lighter than the photos I have enclosed with my review, but I'm happy with the shade. When these blinds are closed, your room is pretty dark. I'm glad I didn't choose a darker wood. It isn't easy to find the smaller size 1" wood blinds that are affordable, which is why I was happy to find these. I installed the blinds myself. I'm female, have hung blinds before, but don't enjoy it. This was no exception. I thought the directions and diagrams could have been clearer and better, like most things these days. To me, the installation was a pain in the neck. Once they were up, though, I was happy and relieved. As another reviewer stated, the decorative slat that covers the top of the blind's hardware could have covered more area. The slat seems a little flimsy and it was awkward to install. Once attached, however, it's up there and does the job. I expected the wood slats to be of a slightly better quality material, but I have nothing to compare them to and I do really like the way they look. They have a good weight to them, though. The pull cord seems a little flimsy and every time I hear my husband pull the blinds up or down, I cringe, thinking he is going to break the cord. By the way, the blinds need to be in the open position in order to pull them up or down. I had to tell him that too. ;-) I have had these blinds for only 6 months and noticed the finish in a small area on one of the blinds, is scratchy already. I realized that this was caused by the small leaves on my umbrella plant, that is next to those blinds, brushing against the blinds when I am cleaning the floor back there or just turning the plant every month to allow it equal daylight exposure. I was surprised the finish on the blinds was so thin that it scratched just from that (see photo). I have since moved the plant farther away. I wish there were more widths available in these blinds. I needed size 33" wide for my windows and had to settle for 32" wide since they didn't have 33" blinds. I also need 55" width for a larger window in my house, but these blinds do not come that large, unfortunately. I would buy them in a heartbeat, if they did. With the cons I have listed, I still gave these blinds a "'4" because I really like how they look and would buy them again. If we are gentle with raising and lowering them and keep the plant leaves away from the wood slats, they will hopefully beautify my rooms for quite some time. For that reason, I would recommend these pretty wood blinds. This review was part of a sweepstakes entry, but I had planned to review them anyway, because I am always grateful to read the reviews of others. January 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with the JCP blinds Our local JCP store didn't carry in stock 1" blinds. We ordered on line through JCP. They arrived in couple of days and within 3-4 days I had them all installed. Excellent. December 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I hate buying window coverings...Penneys always comes through Good quality wood blinds, and in the rare 1" slat depth I was looking for. What more can you ask? Actually, I wish there had been a true 24" blind. This is my only caveat on these blinds: the 23" blind (and all others) is actually a 23" header with 22.5" slats. For inside mounting, it can make a difference on window coverage. That said, we made them work and it's nice to have functional, attractive window coverings at an affordable price. August 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this blind! Purchased this item on sale and couldn't be more pleased! Great quality, matches the wood trim in my bedroom almost perfectly. My husband installed it in about 20 minutes. I paired this blind with some Martha Stewart voile panels, also from JCP, that were an incredible price. Very happy ;-) March 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Natural Basswood white blinds The 1" faux wood blind is perfect ;the price right. July 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Look This is a great shade that we put on a french door. It's just short of the length of the glass but it works for us since we never close the blinds completely. It's made well and it was easy to install. September 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I am very happy with this purchase. My old blinds were over due for replacement, but I hesitated for a long time due to the expense. I found these well-priced blinds from JCP online. They were delivered quickly, turned out to be very good quality and easy to install. One of the 5 blinds I purchased was damaged, but JCP quickly sent a replacement and I returned the damaged one to a JCP store - quick resolution. I had to go online to watch videos to really learn how to remove the extra slats for a custom fit. After you do one the rest go quickly. I chose the snow white blinds which look terrific and were a a good value. September 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my new blinds. I love my new blinds. Fortunate for me, they fit into my old blind brackets. Excellent quality!! September 12, 2016

Yes! And have to update my last review--just ordered another blind for my bathroom, and this one (27x72) is solid and well made--better than last ones. Easy to clean and operate and install. Keeps light out well!

I leave the blinds open during the day as they are on french doors leading out to a screened porch, so I don't have an opinion on them keeping light out.

I have the natural basswood color so I am not sure about the white ones. I have them installed on east side of my house. They block most of the morning sunlight however a bit shines through sides which I would expect happens with most blinds..

Answer:
I got the wood color, not the white. The blind closes tightly & seems to keep most of the light out. A bit comes thru the holes where the strings thread through the slates, buts I feel it's minimal. I have a log home & I used this one in a bathroom, looks beautiful against the wood wall. The quality is excellent for the price.

Answer:
No - You cannot change the width of these blinds only the length. These blinds won't work for you as an inside mount, but you could possibly use the 48" wide as an outside mount for your window.

Answer:
There is potentially enough room to cut 1" from each end of the wood blind without affecting the cord function. You would need to be sure in cutting down the size of the header you are not interfering with the mechanical parts and function of the header. Blind shops have special jigs that hold the blinds secure while trimming size and I'm sure the warranty with JCP would be voided. Short answer: I wouldn't advise trying this...

Answer:
My husband had to trim ours about an inch as they don't come in any narrower than a 23" ... they look good. We could not use a 2" blind at our windows and a 1" is very hard to find. He also shortened the blinds with no problem. They look good and are well made.

I have a 48" window (inside measurement) and want to use inside mount blinds. In order for the blind to operate properly, they would have to be slightly less than 48" wide.

Answer:
The blinds are slightly narrower, but the metal brace at the top edge may be a tight fit once the brackets are mounted. I used straight edge snippers to trim a narrow piece from each side and the cut edge is concealed once mounted. Very easy to install with a battery operated drill bit driver and screwdriver. I nearly always shop for blinds when discounted or when I have a coupon, making for a great value. Quality product - much better than can be found in the big box stores. Installed throughout a remodel - 10 windows. Very pleased with appearance.

I've often noticed that finished wood or manufactured wood products have a terrible chemical smell. I'm very allergic/sensitive to this and am wondering if these blinds have any type of detected odor.
