Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I purchase these knives for my husband. He has wanted a set of these for quite awhile. He loves them. I did not give a review on expectations, quality and durability as we just got them at Christmas and have not had a chance to use them. I will come back in a few weeks and update. So far, happy with the purchase. The little bit that we have both used them we are completely satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent budget knife set Short of paying a small fortune, these are the best knives around. They are the "international" version, meaning they were not made in Germany, but are still very high quality. My mother-in-law has a set from the same company that is vastly more expensive, and yes, the handles are a little better weighted, but if you're on a budget, these are a great option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Product Durable construction, well-balanced knives, superb cutting edges, attractive design. However, there are two things I would change. First is the angle of the block; it needs to be more upright, with the front face with the Henckels logo more vertical and the long base shorter (see Photo 1, showing a green line representing a better angle for the base). Second, I found the scissors to be at an inconvenient location; i.e., always in the way. So I made a Velcro loop-slot on the back angled surface of the block and slid the scissors in there (see Photo 2). Much better! But these things are a matter of my personal taste and have nothing to do with the quality of the product. Also, I bought extra paring knives, and there are enough leftover slots in the block to accommodate them. Wonderful! And I love the Henckels logo on the knife butts. Classy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Investment that will last a life time! I have been in the market for a really good knife set. I asked some chefs in restaurants which type or brand of knife they prefer? Several of them suggested Henckels. I knew they were kind of pricey but thought that I would try them out to see if they were the right set for me. I LOVE THEM! They have great weight and balance and are VERY SHARP! I never knew cooking could be more fun when you have the right kind of knives to start off with. I priced them around at various stores and JCP had the better deal with a better selection. I recommend these for anyone that does any type of cooking. You will be very satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These knives cut with ease. I wanted a set of knives that were sharp, and would stay sharp. I also wanted knives that I could sharpen. Then I looked for knives that would not Easley slip in my hand when food would be on them. I found these knives to do all this. I had a set of serrated knives first and they were dual even new just out of the box. I would not recommend the serrated knives to any one.

are they made in germany

Asked by: aldenite
No, they are not. If you look closely at the photo, you will notice that there is a single little guy on the block's logo. J.A. Henckel knives with two little guys on them are made in Germany, while if there's only one little guy on the logo, they are "international," meaning made somewhere in Asia, usually.
