by shprgrl universal king/cal king
I purchased in store, I was not aware at that time that it was a universal bed for king/cal king. I purchased cal king (espresso) being I have a standard sized cal king mattress set , there is approximately 4" of open space (all around) on both sides and at the foot of the bed. My box spring is 9" in height and mattress 12 1/2" in height which raises the bed abnormally high, but with out any box spring bed is too low and mattress sinks into the flimsy cross boards attached to the frame, I would recommend a 5' box spring or 2" bunky board to help with height as well as added support for mattress support. definitely would not recommend for cal king. The color is a dark espresso shade with slight cherry wood tones, hardware is almost like an antique or brushed nickle. I am going to try to figure out a way to fill the edges to keep mattress from sliding and hope to make it more eye appealing by making exposed boards less visible, since I also got the matching media center and 11 drawer dresser which are both great , I hope to make the bed work otherwise I will be returning it.

by Mon3311 Love this bed
I bought this bed because I wanted a platform bed with drawers and really liked the look. Be aware that there are only 2 working drawers. This was not a surprise to me as I had spent a lot of time researching this bed before I bought it. Also, I planned to use 5" box springs with it so didn't have the sagging problem that others had mentioned. Overall, it looks beautiful in my room and I'm very happy with the purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Odie Beautiful bed
We have purchased high end bedroom sets in the past and the craftsmanship of this bed definitely surpasses the quality of our previous bed. The design of the assembly hardware assures that this bed will stay together. The finish is beautiful, the hardware in the drawers are beautiful as well. It took us two hours to put it together. Muscles required as it is heavy. We purchased a king and there is 3 inch gap at headboard and footboard. Not a big deal as our comforter tucks nicely. Big surprise though is the height. Very, very tall with box spring and mattress. Can live with this, just need to buy step stool for me (5'6") but my husband was fine (6'0"). I definitely would recommend this bed with this great quality and exceptional price.

The headboard, footboard and side bars are sturdy. The color is nice. But the wood strips that supports the mattress are too soft and don't give enough support for the mattress. We put the mattress directly on the wood strips. But it soon began to sag in the middle and gave us back pain. At first we thought it was the mattress problem, but when we removed the mattress, we saw the wood strips close to the headboard were all sagging. Fortunately we had box springs. After putting them between the wood strips and the mattress, things got a lot better. For a bed at this price, this is an unforgivable problem. Why is everything else made sturdy but the most important piece? Wouldn't recommend it at all. Spend your money elsewhere.

I bought this bed in the store, assuming that it had 6 storage drawers. After it was assembled in my house, I learned that four are false-fronts; only two work. The sides of the bed are too low to slide anything under it. I kept it because I'd lose the delivery/set-up charge and there is a restocking fee. The bed looks good, but is not what I needed.
