by towncraftwasbetter These are great
I have worn the Stafford (Towncraft)briefs for most of my life. They are comfortable and durable. I purchased these because the XL on the full rise briefs was too high on the waist. These do shrink after you wash, but quickly stretch back into place for a nice comfortable fit.

by pickuptruckguy Very Comfortable Men's Briefs!
I decided to give these low-rise Stafford white briefs a try. I ended up buying 2 packs since they were on sale, and man was this ever a great decision! My underwear drawer will definitely begin transitioning toward mostly the Stafford brand white briefs as I phase out other brands and retire older pairs. I have a buddy who wears only white briefs and buys only white briefs (per request) for his 2 sons, as they will not wear any other type of underwear. We are both a 32 waist so I will be giving him the 2nd pack of these to try as I plan on ordering more soon.
I wore Stafford white briefs growing up before I strayed in my 20's and 30'st to follow the misguided trends of various boxers and boxer briefs. Today it seems I've come full circle and am back to tighty whiteys -- for good! And it seems I am not alone. The classic white men's brief is the tried and true standard that in my opinion is making a comeback. In fact, the Stafford brand is the main reason I returned to JCP for general shopping.
Boxers bunch up under my pants and I do not like the annoying extra material around my thighs of boxer-briefs. Nor do I like paying more for colored or stylish underwear that resembles shorts when all I require is the practical comfort and support of a basic white brief that suits my needs. It is important to note I now shop for only WHITE briefs and therefore necessary to have a few go-to brands of WHITE briefs I can depend on for all day comfort and support. Stafford low rise white briefs are top of the list, if not my first choice.
I will definitely be buying more of these low-rise white briefs in the future. I have already purchased the fuller cut white briefs online as well and will follow up with a review. THANK YOU, THANK YOU JCPenny for continuing to supply the Stafford brand of men's white briefs for a long time to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by thatniceguy Best Tighty Whities Ever
These are just about the best briefs I've ever worn. If you're a young guy who is tall and skinny like me you know how disappointing the sizing of briefs can be. The white briefs by Hanes' and Fruit of the Loom have always fit baggy on me, even when I get a smaller size, and the colored briefs by Hanes have always given me wedgies. But these tighty whities fit perfect and have never given me wedgies. They fit snugly but don't have that pinching feeling. I lived in a college res hall for a while, we all saw each other in our underwear, and the other guys liked them, one guy tried them and ended up throwing out all his boxers and bought nothing but these tighty whities.
They're great for working out and sleeping, and in my experience are the best for any male related problems.
They're white so yeah they might stain once in a while, but then me or my mom just use bleach. So if you know how to separate your white clothes and use bleach for the washing machine they're pretty much perfect.

I need the briefs in a larger size. I was wearing them in an XXL but the XXL was discountinued. I have tried the XL. The XL runs small. I would purchase numerous pairs of this product if they were in a larger size.

These are not true low rise. They seem more like a high cut (French / Brazil whatever cut) for men. The back panel is the same height and size (amount of material) as my recently purchased Stafford full briefs and the only difference between the two is that the front panel has the legs opening cut up about three inches higher so that it doesn’t have as much material covering the thighs/legs in the front but the waist band still goes up to within an inch of my belly button because of the back panel full size, and this also makes the leg openings too large now.
About 6 years ago before JC Penney took a wrong turn and totally lost their quality control the Stafford low rise briefs that I purchased back then had both the back panel and the front panel about three inches lower than the full size briefs that I had at that time. I still have a pair hanging in there that I can compare the differences. These are made in Pakistan vs. the old in Honduras.

I've been buying JCPenneys Stafford Briefs since I was a teenager (I'm 58 now). I purchased competing products from name-brands over the years to see how they compared and always came back to Stafford. I'm not so sure I'll keep that going after this most recent purchase.
I've dropped 10 pounds, but after one wash & dry, the briefs shrunk more than they should have. I didn't but them on sale, nor look for a discount. I expected these to be the same as they have been all these years! I'm disappointed. They still fit and feel good, but something is different. Perhaps the manufacturer is playing games with material or using those sub-human-sized male models from Europe or Asia. regardless, something is different and I may be looking for at the competitors lines again. There certainly are plenty of them to try.
p.s No no no - don't think that after 45 years I've forgotten how to wash or dry them and it's ME that made some mistake. Think again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by luketc88 Stafford does it again!!!!
All I can say is that Stafford has done it again!! They make a great quality, comfortable, and incredibly soft pair of briefs that fit perfectly and are exactly how they are described in other reviews and on the packaging.
Having tried different brands of briefs, none of them compare to the greatness that is Stafford low-rise briefs. I'm 26, athletic and don't like to spend a lot on underpants. I have always worn underwear purchased in multi-packs from discount stores. I've also worn "tighty whities" everyday of my life (except when I was a baby of course), and upon finding these, all those other brands and stores went out the door.
I know a lot guys my age don't wear white briefs anymore, but if they did then there would be no question as to what brand they should be wearing....Stafford.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to make these AWESOME white Stafford briefs!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Glen Penney's just bums me out anymore
My husband wore the Stafford mid-rise briefs for literally decades and loved them so, therefore, I loved them. I could buy these briefs in the store easily. He liked the fit and the fabric. About 2 years ago the company, Penney's, changed the sizing on these briefs and rather than going by mid-rise and size 32-34, the closest thing I could find were low rise, medium. The low rise are not too different than what used to be medium rise which is the good news and the fabric felt pretty good. They are not bikini cut like I was almost expecting. The bad news is that the waist band of the medium, which is supposed to be size 32-34, was so tight on my husband that it looked like the briefs were going to pinch him in half. Also, the briefs were not carried in my store so I had to order them and pay shipping to get them to the store (rather insulting). My husband is a runner and weighs the same as he did 20 years ago and wears the same size shorts (32) so I believe that the problem is with the briefs. If a person was a size 34, they would truly be hurting in these tight waist briefs. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more of these from Penny's.
