by tx2golfgirl These are quality shades
These are quality shades that do what the description says they're going to do. I've had five of them in my home on south-facing windows for six years in the Texas sun and they were easy to install, cut down glare, help reduce heat, and help protect furniture from fading. I ordered three more shades for an adjacent room.

by Mersk Good product but failed custom cut.
I ordered 2 shades at 17.5 inches and 2 shades at 45 inches. I received 1 at 16.75, one at 16.5 one at 44.25 and one at 44. Now I understand the cut was made allowing for the hardware on each end, but each pair should have been the same size. After mounting the hardware and trying to install the shade, two of them had to be removed and wood shims put on the window frame to reduce the opening. The function of the solar shade is quite good. Really cuts the sun heat and UV. However what a struggle to shim the hardware, and now I have to stain and polyurethane the wood shims to match the window frame. The plastic flat tubes for the bottom hem, were hacked at with a hatchet it seems, they are cracked, jagged and too short. I had some old wooden shade slats that we cut, painted black and replaced them. Again - functionality wise - its a good product. The human element to custom size them was AWFUL!!

by HelloSunshine So far, fits my need
I have 4 tall, narrow windows on the east side of my house - the morning sun arrives here and in the summer can heat up my home office very quickly. I adore the natural light of the space, but could easily start to feel like a lizard in a glass cage. So - these will hopefully help me to find the right balance. I used the "top" installation method, as that seemed most appropriate for the windows. The roller sits quietly up at the top and doesn't obstruct the view. I thought I might need to use valances, but maybe I won't even need them.

by KatieShopsJCPenney Works as intended, good looking, good value
I purchased these shades for a kitchen window receiving too much late afternoon/evening sunlight. The shades arrived after waiting a few weeks for a backorder. They were exactly the right size and easy to install. It took about one half hour to put up two shades. They look attractive in my kitchen and I like that cars driving by can no longer see straight into my house but I still get some sunlight. The only real negative was the that the ends of the plastic support rods that are inserted through the bottom edge were very jagged. I mean EXTREMELY jagged. If the plastic rods would have been visible, I would have returned the product as they were obviously not cut with care. However, these rods are concealed by shade material at the bottom edge so you can't see them. When these shades go on sale again, I plan to purchase more of them for other rooms in my house getting too much sun.

by mcdecor Exactly what I was looking for.
Blocks the sun rays without blocking the view.
Perfect for the front porch.
Cut to width was perfect for my older home with odd window sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hunnie It's nice
It serves its purpose and looks nice. I like the fact that you can see through it when it's down and lets air through, but still cuts the hot sun from shining directly in the house. It is used in a dining room so privacy was not an issue and would never use it for a bedroom. I ordered the shade in white and have white trim so I like that when it is rolled up you can't even see it is there. The 2 problems I have with it are (1) the cut that was done for the 'cut-to-width' did not come straight, not too big a deal since there are curtains on the ends of the window to hide it, but if you don't have curtains, you may not like the results. (2) The shipping packaging was just brown paper wrapped around the shade. This caused the plastic insert that slides into the bottom of the shade to arrive broken.

I love my new shade. I gave JCPenney dimensions via my order and they met them, exactly and the quality was great. The shade fit the window like it was made and installed on site. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks JCPenney, your awesome.

Rated 1 out of 5 Does not work at all as intended
I was skeptical about how effective these shades would be but decided to go ahead and buy them after reading the reviews. Should've went with my gut. I purchased these shades with the main purpose of cutting down on the heat in my bedroom. These shades thus far have done absolutely nothing to absorb the heat as they are intended to. My room is regularly the same temperature it was prior to installing these so called heat absorbing shades. What made my purchase that much worse was that not only do they do nothing to cut down the heat, but they do even less to cut down visibility into my bedroom. Once night falls and my lights are on the whole neighborhood can see me as if I had the shades pulled up. There's a small chance these shades are actually enhancing the view into my bedroom at night. The only pro I can see with this purchase is that they were extremely easy to install which is very convenient for later when taking them down to replace them with a functioning product. Awful, awful, awful.
