by OkieReviewer If you want to create an edible, brown zebra then....
...this griddle is for you! I purchased two of these on sale, one for girlfriend, the other for myself. She cooked on the griddle first and reported that pancakes came out uneven - part of the surface of the pancake looked brown the rest, not. (See image.)
I thought maybe it was because the griddle might not have reached the appropriate temperature but when I cooked on my unit I confirmed the same behavior - going on over a year now of at least once a month use - cooking primarily pancakes. I suspect an engineering problem with the ceramic surface not distributing the heat evenly or maybe the heating element itself isn't adequate for the task. Flipping the unit over (other image) confirms these suspicions. The width of the brown stripe corresponds with the rough dimension of the heating element itself. Bringing the unit to a higher temperature gives the same, albeit quicker, results The pancakes are cooked through and through, you just wouldn't want to serve them to guests if you happen to run a fancy-pants bed and breakfast. (Or have picky family members.) Edible? But not pretty.
We got the griddles dirt cheap on sale and with a JCP coupon - so I guess the old adage, "You get what you pay for." plays out here. My girlfriend ended up buying a new, standard non-stick cooking surface griddle and is much happier with the results. I think I will probably end up doing the same and donating this one to charity.

by Discontented Try a different griddle
This griddle worked great for a few months, but its grooved surface and single-element burner eventually did not work well together. The non-stick surface includes a pattern of tiny criss-cross grooves. For the first few uses, these just self-cleaned, and were not a problem. But as time progressed the grooves became increasingly difficult to clean, mostly in the area just over the single heating element. In accord with the instructions, we did not use sprays, oils, or other anti-stick lubricants, nor did we exceed 300 deg. (of 400 available on controller). If one were to put in a couple of hours running a fingernail through each groove, s/he *might* be able to get the grill clean, but this is not a practical approach for every use of the device. We're pretty fastidious, so I'd say this is a problem with the griddle and not user error. Even at a discounted price, look elsewhere.

I needed a new one while shopping I saw it was on sale for a resonable price it heats up fast and the only thing I found was it is hard to turn anything over because nothing sticks to it easy to clean I will say I am happy with it but wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't on sale

I wanted to make pancakes on a ceramic griddle. I can't get this griddle clean after making blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes. Nothing I tried gets it clean! Waste of money.
