Rated 2 out of 5 by from Makes good coffee but makes a big mess when pouring I read several very good reviews before I purchased this coffee maker. I liked the reusable permanent filter. The coffee maker I bought in Jan. 2017 does NOT have that feature. One review said she was able to use 2 coupons on the purchase, I was told since it was a appliance, the other coupon could not be used. I was able to get in on the rebate, the coffee maker was on sale,it does make good coffee. BUT THE CARAFE DESIGN IS NOT GOOD. The pouring spout is shallow so when you are pouring the 1st or 2nd cup of coffee it pours over the top of the spout, misses the cup and goes all over the counter. I should take it back because I am really not happy the the pot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is just as good as a Mr. Coffee I bought this Cooks coffee maker to replace a Mr. Coffee. Be aware of a few things before you start whining about how it doesn't work. People have complained about coffee spilling out of the carafe when pouring. The solution is simple--simply try pouring less water out of the carafe. Don't empty the whole pot into the coffee maker in 2 seconds. Slow down your pour, and you'll be okay. Also--to program the clock, you have to plug the unit in and actually look directly into the LED display (probably eye level with it). The word 'clock' will appear on top of the numerals in the display (very small). Simply hit the hour and minute buttons to set the correct time, and don't forget the am and pm feature. I tried to use my Mr. Coffee carafe (it doesn't splash), but it wouldn't fit on the unit. So just pour slower. You need to run two cycles of tap water through the unit initially to clean out the insides. Wait 10 minutes between cycles. Other than that, this coffee maker works for me. Just as good as Mr. Coffee, for $4.00 less.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 major design flaws a) The clock & all controls are at the bottom and aimed straight outward, thus only visible if your eye level is at the bottom of the unit (which is NOT normally true). Contrast with Black & Decker unit which also has clock & all controls at bottom, BUT angles them all upward so you can see them all very clearly when looking down. b) Clock is LCD and hard to see in low light. Contrast with Black & Decker unit which uses bright LED clock display & is easily visible even in total darkness. c) Pouring spout on carafe is very small, making it nearly impossible to pour from a full carafe without spilling. Contrast with Black & Decker unit which has a pouring spout of at least triple the size and can easily handle spill-free pouring, no matter how full the carafe is. Only good point about this product is the self-sealing drip zone which blocks the liquid from dripping whenever the carafe is removed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Timer Failed With less than 90 days on the clock, the electronic timer/clock has failed and is not allowing me to set or reset time, which may be a blessing, as the full carafe is very difficult to pour from without slopping coffee everywhere. I have seen this same issue on some Mr. Coffee pots and others, where the coffee adheres to, and pours down the side of the pot. I will by another type/brand today as a replacement.. No issues with how the coffee tasted or brewed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good The coffee maker meets my expectations. It took a while to figure out the on/off procedure....can't just hit the "on" button. Haven't taken the time to use the programmer on it. It really doesn't take that long to brew the coffee so don't feel the need to set it up the night before. The plastic top is kinda flimsy feeling but I'm sure it'll be just fine. The coffee gets really hot, probably the hottest coffee I've ever made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy with my purchase I have had several coffee pots over the years, but the Cooks one I purchased from Penneys is by far the best. I only wish I could have found this one years ago. The performance and quality for the cost cannot be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value I had never used a Cooks product, but I decided to give it a try. A JCP clerk said she had one for awhile and it worked well. So far, so good! I hope it lasts. The value was great, and it makes fine coffee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better then Mr.Coffee? Over the last couple of years I have been purchasing Mr.Coffee coffeemakers. They have not been lasting more then 1 year. One only made it a couple weeks. I continued with them because I could just go and exchange it with no cost but it just got to the point of being ridiculous. When your husband get's up in the morning and there is no coffee, well let's just say he isn't happy. LOL.Hoping that this JC Penney brand will meet and exceed our expectations.

It seems when you push the On/Off button, the coffee doesn't go on, you need to push the Program button too why?

Coffee maker doesn't go on by pushing the On button, why?

Do you have to lift the entire lid to fill the water reservoir and is the filter situated inside or does it swing out from the front

Asked by: Cindy
You have to life the lid up and the filter is situated inside (doesn't swing out). Not the easiest situation if you have the maker under a cabinet.

Does this Cooks coffee maker have a permanent filter like the black Cooks XL coffee maker does? Thank you

Asked by: Cat2shop
No permanent filter - I use standard paper basket filters from the grocery store.
