Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unfortunately a "No" on this one. It's not very often that I say "no" on a product, but this one did it. I have one other Crosley, the oak console, and initially this looked like it would be a cheap backup/second turntable for me. It seemed to have the adjustable tone arm, speed settings, and replaceable cartridge most "pro" gear has, but appearances are deceiving. I'll list the issues below: The counterweight has a detent setting and isn't threaded. Most counterweights are threaded so you unscrew it until the tonearm balances. You then set the tracking force dial to zero and thread it back in until the number the cartridge requires comes up. For this the instructions vaguely say to turn the dial while pushing the counterweight. Well, the dial spins freely, you're literally guessing at what setting to use. If you hear reports of people with this turntable saying the needle keeps popping out of the groove it's likely they balanced the tonearm and just turned the dial, and end up trying to play a record with zero tracking force. To really do it right you need to get a tracking force gauge, which is more money--and the cartridge in this recommends 5 grams of tracking force, over twice what most cartridges use. The headshell looks to be a quick detach but isn't. What that means is most headshells you unscrew them and it comes off. There are four electrical contacts that match with ones in the tone arm, so replacing a cartridge can take seconds. Here there are no contacts, just wires running up into the tone arm. The headshell consists of two parts, the shell that carries the cartridge and a joint that fits into the tone arm. These two parts are connected by a simple pop-in socket. That socket is loose--my headshell was wobbling by around a quarter of an inch and crooked. I ended up gluing it in place so it would be straight. The cue light never turns off and there is no on/off switch. You move the tone arm towards the platter and it turns on automatically, and then does an auto return. The platter is wobbly (loose on the mount). This appears to be by design but means if anything is off balance the platter will wobble. The speed is way off from the factory, I had to set the pitch up pretty high for a 33 to sound right and match the cue light and at first I thought the 78 didn't work and was stuck at 33 also. There are three holes on the bottom that can be used to adjust the speeds by screws, but from some reports I've read there's also a risk of shorting it out. Still, I took the chance and mounted it where the record could play and I could still get at the screws and dialed the speeds in--it turned out the 78 speed was completely dialed down, I think it's a potentiometer that only doubles the existing 33 speed. The Phono out RCA connectors are oversized and very tight, while the Aux out ones are just fine. If you're willing to fix and adjust all of that then it will play records and sound okay but not great. As it is I may only keep this as a backup or 78 only turntable as they're more forgiving about quality.
