First off I've had this a year, so I feel I can give a realistic opion of this maker. After the first 4 months the coating on the burner began to peal. By 6 months coating was gone. The filters are hard to find and expencive to replace. You have to pull in our from under the cabnit to put in water. The clock has no back light. The coffee started tasting bitter. I cleaned it as instrcted and in took over 4 hours to clean .. I have soft water so I know it should not have taken that long. After 8 months the pot started to leak both while pouring water into the unit and pouring coffee. THe next time it needed cleaned the cleaning light wouldn't ever go out. Also after 8months it began to take longer and longer to brew........Jump to a year in. I am now looking for a new cofee maker. Not worth the price. I'm very disappointed. I

I have many cuisinart products that I love, so I was very surprised by the design of this coffee maker. The lid for the carafe, which is ironically labled as "hands free" actaully hurts my fingers to get off. there are 2 tiny tabs on the top of the handle in which you are supposed to use to yank this lid off. The tabs are small and sharp which make it very uncomfortable to remove. It doesn't just pop off, you really have to pull. I haven't seen a coffee maker like this ever. For the last 15 years all of my pots have had pop-up lids, not pop-off lids. Why this one doesn't I'm not sure. I acutally called cuisinart to make sure I wasn't missing something. Anyway, if you like the ease of a pop-up lid on your carafe, DO NOT get this coffee maker. I already returned mine.

Unlike other coffee makers that actually shut off automatically...this particular model, you need to turn the dial to set the auto shut off feature....not practical when rushing or forgetting to apply this setting manually. The lid is poorly made/designed, you have to remove the lid each time to rinse, refill, etc....not convenient like other models that pops up. The water reservoir is very narrow and difficult to add water.

I've owned the coffee maker for over a month to allow time to make an informed opinion.
1. Coffee pot leaks every time you pour.
2. Need more coffee to get a bolder flavor. My old coffee pot didn't need nearly as much coffee to make a good cup of joe.
3. It really is a pain to pour water into the reservoir if you are left-handed. I had read about this in other reviews and didn't think much of it, but it really is irritating. The water pours into the right side of the back of the unit, and the lid gets in the way.
4. Clock is not back-lit, so very difficult to program in darker areas of your kitchen.
You can program it and you can pour a weak cup in the middle of a cycle, but other than that, this unit is a disappointment.

Did not last a year. Many issues even before it stopped functioning. For the money, a huge disappointment.

have had 3 wks now. the enclosed brochure is easy to follow, not much to figure out. i programmed it & had good, hot coffee waiting for me the next a.m. - stays hot too for as long as you tell it. i like the gold-tone filter inside. nice looking on counter. the 'cons' might be that the dials could be higher up for easier reading/setting. don't really see the point of the beeping @ beginning & end (i know i just made coffee a few minutes ago, so why beep me?) water reservoir is kind of small in back corner - but these are minor issues once you use it a few times. i would buy again.

As an avid coffee drinker we chose the Cuisinart coffeemaker from their reputation and price value of the machine. The pot leaked a little, but it did make a great cup of coffee. The first one broke after 6 months. We did not have the receipt to return the product and thought well maybe this was just bad luck. So we purchased another Cuisinart 12 cup coffeemaker and again after 6 months the machine has quit working. I have not contacted Cuisinart at this time, not for sure it will be worth the hassle to own another Cuisinart product.
