For 20 years we used a Cuisinart small coffee maker with a built in filter, no need to buy them. It worked beautifully. This new model is a piece of junk. You would think that they would know how to make something that can pour without spilling all over the counter. We will be returning garbage to the Bay and never buy Cuisinart again.

Pouring the water into the unit and pouring the coffee into a mug is the worse.
How do they not see that the carafe does not pour properly and fix that.
water and coffee dripping everywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Don O Exactly what I was looking for.
Bought this for my mother who was not happy with a cheap 8-cup model from another manufacturer. She says this one makes better coffee, doesn't leak or drip, and takes up very little counter space. I like the auto-shutoff feature because she was always forgetting to turn her other ones off, which I always thought was hazardous.

The pros and cons- first impression is that it is that the basket and carafe are quite lightweight and cheaply made. next - Oooh! the horrifific plastic tatste and smell of the coffee for, at least the first 25 brewing cycles which is sickening! Vinegar cycles, thorough washing-I tried it all. Very flimsey spring on the brew-stop feature. Kept having to reposition the carafe to stop it from dripping. Also, remember that this heats the coffee for 30 minutes after brewing. Should take note of this and buy a glass carafe which can go into the dishwasher. Most stainless steel carafes vacuum seal.
... Do not bother emailing Cuininart, either because they do not respond.
Now the positives: Nice wide opening on the carafe which makes cleaning very easy. Brews decent tasting coffee once the very bad taste and smell goes away.

Rated 3 out of 5 by PiperBoy Good Coffee Maker - Drippy Carafe
Cuisinart seems to be the only ones making a small 4 cup coffee maker these days and this one is good. Except the carafe. Whether the stock stainless steel one, or the glass version (I prefer glass), it is the drippiest coffee pot I've ever encountered. I think the spout doesn't have enough curl or depth. A slight change to the spout would make this unit a much better appliance. Maybe an insulated pot would be a good idea too.
This coffee maker does make a great cup of coffee if you do your part (quality coffee & filtered water) - just keep a rag handy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by MamasView Great product, but it broke for no reason
I bought this coffeemaker to replace my previous one which was lost in a house fire. It is a compact size and design that fits my small kitchen space well and is just right for one-person usage. I like the stainless steel carafe as opposed to glass. The machine is not very durable, however. After just a few uses, the lid broke. The tiny pin that holds the hinge of the lid onto the machine came off. I was not careless with the machine and feel I did nothing to cause the breakage. Something that is used regularly should not be so fragile. It seems to be a design defect. I will probably return it, and am not sure if I'll get a new one for fear that it will break also. The problem is, however, I like the the features of the Cuisinart better than any four-cup maker on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MOUSEMAMMA CUISINART 4 CUP COFFEE MAKER
I picked up my cute little red coffee maker this afternoon and have used it twice already and absolutely LOVE IT! The only thing you might want to watch (the first time you use it) is that the carafe gets hot on the outside.I didn't expcet that because I thought it was going to be a thermal pot.My mistake...I didn't pay attention when I read the description,I guess.I was thinking of taking it back because I wanted a thermal pot but changed my mind ...I really like it!!! I know now not to touch the little pot so there's no reason not to keep it.I don't understand why some people have complained about it being hard to fiil and that it dribbles when pouring??? It fills and pours great and without one little dribble.I love it and and am very happy I chose it :)
