I ordered this because I was spending too much money on unsweetened yogurt from my natural food store. I made my first batch with local pasteurized and not homogenized milk from the same natural food store. It tastes good, but sort of a funky texture because of the little fat particles from lack of homogenization. I like Greek style yogurt so I strained it in a mesh colander with a paper towel inside. I made another batch the same way. The flavor is amazing and if you drain the liquid overnight and drizzle honey, it tastes like cheesecake! One last tip...I made my last batch in a 1.75 qt Anchor Hocking flat glass bowl. It fit the appliance perfectly and the lid just cleared the bowl. It took a few hours longer to firm up, but I was able to make a big batch rather than scraping it out of the little jars. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Very easy to use. It takes very little time to make the mixture to pour into the jars too. I usually have yogurt in 8 hours, if my kitchen is warm. It can take up to 10 hours in very cold weather. I also wrap a towel over the unit. to hold in warmth. This unit doesn't have a timer, but I didn't need one, so that saves money. The jars are just the right size and easy to fill. So far when using Dannon plain as a starter, I have had the best results. I didn't care for the vanilla flavor packet that came with it. The peach packet was just OK, you could barely taste it. The mix is also very clumpy and just causes more mixing for not very much flavor.

I've used this product every week for a year now & am really happy with it. I've never had a bad batch of yogurt from it & none of the pieces have broken. I hand wash the lid & jar lids & wash the jars in the d/w. I used plain yogurt from the store to start my first batch & every 6 weeks or so I have to do that again. I don't know why but after about 5 times using 1 of my jars as the starter, the yogurt gets too thin. If you do this, watch what you buy & read your labels. The store bought yogurt has to be pure yogurt. NO weird ingredients or preservatives or flavorings. The ingredients have to be milk & enzymes, nothing else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ataylor63 Great yogurt, no additives
I have been using this yogurt maker for three years making yogurt every couple weeks. It is easy to make, just follow the directions. I have never had a bad batch. I use the last jar as the starter for the next one. (You can only do this a couple times), then I buy a small vanilla yogurt (any brand, Greek, fat free or regular) I definitely recommend this for the price!
