Rated 5 out of 5 by MuleMan Great value when they have the BOGO sale
I bought my sealer from Food Saver and have been completely satisfied with every purchase, We have the sealer, the resealable bag sealer with bags, plastic food containers that really keep lunch meat fresh longer than plastic zip lock bags, we have bought the make your own bags in eight inch and eleven inch size. The last purchase was three rolls of eleven inch and two rolls of eight inch in a box for a very good price and it was buy one and get one free. The customer can't loose and if you buy a certain dollar amount they cover the shipping. If you don't have a large quanity to freeze buy the pre sealed/pre cut bags, they are great and you don't loose as much as when you make your own bags. We got a package of Peaches out of the freezer a couple of days ago that was marked 08-08-12 they were still yellow and tasted great eight-teen months after they were froze. Stop wasting your food and buy one of thier sealers and bags and accessories. Mine is the V3460

This is by far the best long term storage system for food that I have ever used. I dry my fresh fruits, veggies and jerky with my home dehydrator than right into Food Saver bags. No more jars to deal with cutting the storage space by more than half. I also seal flour, sugar (no more chunky sugar) and other dry goods for long term storage. Now it's well known that with food items stored in plastic there is the issue of mice. I solved that problem by placing a few flip top coolers (made of hard plastic construction not the soft sided type) on their side either on the floor or on shelf space if you have it. I label what the contents are on the outside and I have easy access to them. Be creative and use the small wire shelves meant for kitchen cabinet use to create shelves within the cooler. Mice proof and easy access with little effort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BayouCharley A technological improvement of frozen food!
I bought the game saver unit to improve the quality of frozen food. It has worked beautifully. I've used up several rolls and bags and it all works as advertized. One thing learned is that a variety of roll and bag sizes reduce waste. With various roll widths and bag sizes the right choice can be made for the many sizes of foods frozen. Reducing waste reduces expenses.
Much of the vacuum packing that I do is buying in bulk and breaking it down to serving sizes and vacuum packing before freezing. When visiting my favorite pizzeria I order extra pizzas half baked and uncut to go. When I return home they are vacuum packed and frozen in lunch serving sizes. When ready to serve I pop them in the oven until the crust is brown, cut the slices, and enjoy my favorite pizza without leaving the house.
I label my frozen foods with a date using a permanent marker and rotate the food using a first in first out method so that no food gets old. Therefore I can't speak to how well it keeps long term. I can say that it is of better quality than before vacuum packing.
I've had no problems and am very happy with my equipment and supplies. I would not only buy it again, but I recommend it to others.

We bought our machine about 18 months ago, although I wanted one long before we made the leap. My wife was a skeptic, right up until the point at which we finally purchsed it.
Our savings weren't immediately realized as we were packing a lot of fish and a small amount of store bought foods. It wasn't until we became members of a wholesale club when we really began to reap the benefits of buying in bulk combined with vacuum sealing our foods. This was a big change in how we buy & preserve groceries and has resulted in hundreds of dollars in savings in just over 6 months. As we continue to improve our buying with vacuum sealing in mind, we will surely save even more $$$.
Although we purchased an lower end model and enjoy its usefulness, I am secretly waiting for it to fail so I can upgrade to a more modern and efficient model. Not that I want to throw money away. The lower end model is just awkward and not very efficient.
I'm not sure if the newer, higher end models have this feature, but it would be nice if the machines had a "seal only" feature so people could use it to help preserve the freshness of cereals and chips and other sorts of crunchy things that come in their own bags & you don't want crushed.

Easy to use and a necessary kitchen/cooking product. I put up many cooked items, as well as seafood - fish filets, shrimp (in the shells) and, of course ribeye steaks and other meats. When packing the shrimp, I use kitchen scissors to cut off the points on the shrimp head and also the tail protrusion. These items can puncture the vacuum bag. In addition, I use old one quart milk cartons to contain the shrimp and seal the entire carton of shrimp. When doing this method, it is unnecessary to remove the points from the shrimp.
Previous to the Food Saver system, I had to save my fish filets and shrimp in containers of water to prevent food burn. That took up a very large amount of room in our three freezers. Now, we have space to spare!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JerkyBoy Great for long term storage of larger portions.
I use my food saver for splitting up larger portions and preserving . If I buy a 15lb log of hamburger meat I can split it up into 3lb packets and freeze the extras until I make lasagna, meatloaf ect. I also Love using the ability to make my own size bags to make bags for different amounts of home made jerky. I don't have to worry about the jerky losing it's flavor or getting moldy if I don't eat it quickly. The only downside is that because you need 2-3in of the bag empty at the top to seal it you wast up to %50 of the bag in you just want a smaller portion for a child or as a gift. I lave sharing my jerky, but when the difference between 4oz and 8oz is .5in in extra bag length (%20 more bag for twice the storage capacity) it's just frustrating. It is totally worth the money, I just wish there were a way to use smaller bags more economically. Sometimes I don't want to bring lots or not be able to finish it. I also really love that during hunting season when I get a deer I can separate out the different cuts into individual bags and label them before putting them in the deep freeze. I can also use a syringe to add marinade then leave them in the fridge for a few days to age without worrying about juices leaking all over my fridge or having to switch containers before freezing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer I love your product!!!!!
I was blessed with a FoodSaver unit when one of my housemates moved out and left it behind. Of course I called dibs on it immediately when I realized he wasn't coming back to claim it. So one day, I cleaned it off, figured out how to use my FoodSaver and I have never been happier! I was using regular produce bags to package my meats and month after month my food tasted funny no matter how much baking soda I put in the freezer, my frozen food had a nasty aftertaste. Once I started freezing my food in the FoodSaver bags, I no longer got that funny aftertaste from my frozen food again!! Steak tastes like steak and you know the rest. Thank You Food Saver for being the quality product that you are!!!! Katrina E.
