Rated 1 out of 5 by Returned this to the store. I ordered this online then found a higher quality one for less money. When this product arrived, the box was damaged and looked like it was a return sent to me. Very disappointed in the pricing and quality of the product when it arrived. March 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this product We bought a Food Saver a few years ago, we liked it so much that we have bought 3 for Christmas gifts for our daughters. Over the last 40 years freezing foods has been a disaster, the food either get lost and forgotten in the freezer by using foil, or freezer burned using freezer bags. My husband and I can now save a little money but buying food in bulk and cut the foods into an appropriate meal size. Honestly using the Food Saver takes a little more time to process, but it is worth the time. December 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Exteremely frustrating product Let me start by saying we loved our previous sealer. The only reason we replaced it was to save counter space and to match our newly renovated Kitchen. While this sealer LOOKS great, it PERFORMS poorly. It often seals only the first bag, if we are trying to seal a series (which we almost always are). With every subsequent bag it either fails to extract air properly or extracts very little and then seals with a bubble of air inside. We've tried the instruction to put a piece of paper towel at the end of the bag and this occasionally works, but most often slips out of place before it can seal. After a frustrating year of struggling with it, it is going into the trash. This is a waste of money and an unfortunate load into the landfill. I don't know if I can trust this company to purchase another of these sealers, but if I do, it will be the flat model, rather than this upright style. Perhaps the older style will once again work as it a vacuum sealer is designed to. December 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT PRODUCT MEETS AND EVEN EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS GREAT PURCHASE October 14, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bag has to be just right My husband and I buy food in bulk, so we thought this would be a good way to keep food fresher and not freezer burnt. We like that it's a vacuum sealer & marinator, however the only flaw that we see, is that the bag has to be just right or else it doesn't work. We plan on keeping it! July 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I was looking for. I ordered this product to replace a 15 year old foodsaver that was used many times over the years for freezing meats, fish vegetables, nuts, and others items. So far the V3460 has met my expectations and is easy to use. I am happy with the quality of the product and feel the price was comparable to other retailers. I look forward to seeing if it last all of the years my older food saver did. April 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is fantastic I love this vacum sealer. When I grocery shop I reseal all my meats. I buy larger packs of meat and separate to family size. The vacum sealer is easy to operate and clean. I like it because it is automatic, just put bag in groove and it vacum and seal without pressing a button. I also like the bag storage and bag cutter so easy and convenient. I have own the earlier model but this is my favorite and would not trade it for anything else. To me it is worth the money I paid for it. June 14, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by money saver on food I love it, have been using it to freeze extra food I make for a second meal in the freezer. It is kind of loud when it is sucking the air out though.. I am a widow and have a hard time cooking for one so it saves my food for future meals. And I can buy the full size packages of meats at a lower price and divide it up for the freezer. would recommend it. April 9, 2015

Answer:
Yes, but it depends on the previous contents of the bag. Bags that previously contained fruits, vegetables, breads, dry goods, and many desserts can be washed and reused. Bags that contained raw meats, fish, eggs or un-pasteurized cheese should be discarded after use because they may contain invisible bacteria that will remain after washing. Bags that contained greasy or oily foods should also be discarded, as they may be difficult to clean. FoodSaver Bags can be washed by hand, or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Use a wooden clothespin or a clip to hold the bags in place. Dry completely. They can then be re-vacuumed.

Answer:
To vacuum package with the FoodSaver®, you must use the FoodSaver® Bags. They are specially designed to be strong enough for vacuum packaging and the waffle pattern in the bag is a patented design that makes sure air does not get caught in pockets around the food. FoodSaver® Bags have five layers, including an outer layer of nylon. This configuration completely prevents air and moisture from getting back into the bag and prevents odors from getting out or in. Other plastic bags allow air to seep through.

If you want to use your FoodSaver® appliance to re-seal, but not vacuum package a bag (without removing the air first) you can use it on Mylar type (strong, thin polyester) or stiff plastic bags, not any other types. For example, you can re-seal potato chip bags.
