Rated 1 out of 5 by Returned this to the store. I ordered this online then found a higher quality one for less money. When this product arrived, the box was damaged and looked like it was a return sent to me. Very disappointed in the pricing and quality of the product when it arrived. March 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT PRODUCT MEETS AND EVEN EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS GREAT PURCHASE October 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great product for the orice I bought this same food saver for myself a year ago and used it so much in the first year I bought it again as a gift for my mother. She was thrilled to receive it because she used mine so often. Occasionally I don't get a complete suction and removal of air from my bags. I'm not sure why. I don't think I am altering my technique. But I still love my food saver. I will use it again and again for many years. December 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bought it for a Christmas gift but they love it. They tried it out before I left. Worked great, sharp looking. Will display nice on the counter. Fast shipping, and a nice 5 year warranty . December 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product I liked this sealer so well that I purchased one for each of my two daughters as well as bags to go with it. This sealer works great and we use it constantly. December 28, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bag has to be just right My husband and I buy food in bulk, so we thought this would be a good way to keep food fresher and not freezer burnt. We like that it's a vacuum sealer & marinator, however the only flaw that we see, is that the bag has to be just right or else it doesn't work. We plan on keeping it! July 3, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by annoyed i run a small business in which our product needs to be air sealed, so i bought this model and have rated the value at "average". the machine itself works great, it seals quick and isn't too noise also takes up little space. the part where i get very very annoyed is this.. the bags/rolls are very expensive!... and this machine seals the bag an inch and a quarter 1 1/4", from where the bag is cut/precut!!! thats almost 3" of wasted bag per product?!?!?! i hate loosing 1 foot of roll every time i seal 4 of my 7inch items! I'm so aggravated if i had known this earlier i would have looked at other brands that don't rob you of money with their bags and rolls. would i recommend?.. yes, to someone who uses it for small things and doesn't care about wasted bag/roll they paid good money for. Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this product We bought a Food Saver a few years ago, we liked it so much that we have bought 3 for Christmas gifts for our daughters. Over the last 40 years freezing foods has been a disaster, the food either get lost and forgotten in the freezer by using foil, or freezer burned using freezer bags. My husband and I can now save a little money but buying food in bulk and cut the foods into an appropriate meal size. Honestly using the Food Saver takes a little more time to process, but it is worth the time. December 3, 2014

Answer:
Yes, but it depends on the previous contents of the bag. Bags that previously contained fruits, vegetables, breads, dry goods, and many desserts can be washed and reused. Bags that contained raw meats, fish, eggs or un-pasteurized cheese should be discarded after use because they may contain invisible bacteria that will remain after washing. Bags that contained greasy or oily foods should also be discarded, as they may be difficult to clean. FoodSaver Bags can be washed by hand, or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Use a wooden clothespin or a clip to hold the bags in place. Dry completely. They can then be re-vacuumed.

Answer:
To vacuum package with the FoodSaver®, you must use the FoodSaver® Bags. They are specially designed to be strong enough for vacuum packaging and the waffle pattern in the bag is a patented design that makes sure air does not get caught in pockets around the food. FoodSaver® Bags have five layers, including an outer layer of nylon. This configuration completely prevents air and moisture from getting back into the bag and prevents odors from getting out or in. Other plastic bags allow air to seep through.

If you want to use your FoodSaver® appliance to re-seal, but not vacuum package a bag (without removing the air first) you can use it on Mylar type (strong, thin polyester) or stiff plastic bags, not any other types. For example, you can re-seal potato chip bags.
