Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful but size up! They shrink. We bought this quilt (neutral color) years ago for our queen-size bed, and I still love it and just bought another one for our new, king-size bed! We have a black headboard/footboard and brown (walnut) dressers, and the colors in this quilt pull the whole room together. As I like the look of a tucked-in quilt, and because quilts that are sized "full/queen" tend to be too small for queen beds, I bought a king size for our queen bed. Turning it sideways (so the stripes run the width of the bed) worked perfectly, even when I washed it and it shrank. When we recently upgraded to a king-sized platform bed with a pretty tall mattress, we discovered that even though the quilt we had been using is king-size, it is nowhere big enough -- doesn't even reach the bottom of the mattress (due to having shrunk, I believe). After searching high and low for another quilt and finding nothing I liked even remotely as much as this one, I discovered in the comments here that JCP sells this in a bedspread style, which is substantially larger because it's meant to reach the floor. I ordered a full size in the bedspread style, and this covers our king -- sideways again -- with enough overhang to tuck in securely on the sides and foot-end. (Bonus: full-size is cheaper than king size!). Happily, this is not sold as a set so we were able to purchase king-sized shams separately. Two things to note: The bedspread had a very strong, unpleasant, chemical odor when I opened the packaging. The old quilt didn't smell when we bought it, and reading through the comments it appears that some quilts have the stink and others do not. You may get a stinky one, unfortunately. I have washed it and hung it outside to dry, and am hoping the smell will dissipate quickly. Absolutely cannot use it until the smell goes away. Also, the channel stitching in the bedspread style appears to be farther apart than on our old quilt (about double the spacing of the quilt), and I'm disappointed about that but it's not a deal-breaker. Don't know if that's just the bedspread, or if maybe the manufacturer decided to cut costs and do this on all versions. At any rate, the colors are the same as in years past, and I'm just thrilled to have found a way to keep using it in our room. I don't like comforters/duvets (too warm) or anything frilly or country quilty, and after hours and hours of searching for other options, this is still the only bedding I actually like!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beyond expectation I just received my retro chic quilt, shams & valances in the Neutral color. I am SO HAPPY with it. I had matched paint swatches to the picure in the catalog hoping it would be a good match & I have to thank JCP for showing it exactly like it is, the color blue I got for the wall is a perfect match with the light blue in the quilt. And to my surprise, I did not realize the quilt was reversible.Even better, the reverse side is in shades of lt.yellow, green & blue which is the color bedding I had in the room before. If I wanted to switch it out to a lighter color for summer, I could easily use the patchwork quilted shams & curtain valances from before & the colors match perfect with the reverse of this quilt, & in qulting, patchwork & stripe go fine together. Cannot believe that happened. Usually when you buy a quilt it is too narrow for the mattress, this is almost too wide but I would rather have it that way than too small. Great product, I am totally pleased with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful quilt for a great value. After reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit hesitant to order the retro chic quilt. Since this is the only quilt I've seen that I really like, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. First of all, the quilt did not have an awful smell coming out of the bag as some previous reviews noted. It smelled pretty much like fabric in a fabric store. Nevertheless, I washed it on gentle, dried it on low & it came out just fine. The edges are machine-stitched & held up great in the wash. I ordered the King size. It is 104 inches wide and 90 inches long with the stripes running from head to foot. We have a pillow-top mattress, so I will probably buy a dust ruffle to cover the box spring, as the quilt isn't wide enough to do that. The length was fine. The thickness is typical for a quilt. The reverse side of the Jewel color is burgundy. So, apparently the smell, size & durability issues have been resolved. I would definitely recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from King sized small I love the colors in this quilt - no matter what your color scheme, this will surely go with it. Looks very nice, especially when using the pillow shams and having another set of pillows that are plain colored. That said, there are a couple negatives about this quilt: 1) The materials used are very light - so are good for summer, but way too light for winter; especially if you plan on using it as a blanket when you're sleeping. (Even for decorative purposes, it just 'looks' too lightweight for winter decorating.) 2) Both the length and width are too small for the King-sized bed. (My bed is not a California King, either). If you have a nice bed skirt to cover the box spring, this will probably work ok for you. If not, don't plan on using this as a "bedspread". It won't cover nearly enough - barely covers the mattress. Overall, for the price it is ok. Not great, but for the price it's not bad. It would be nice for JCP to show the entire bed in the photo so customers can see how it really fits on the bed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from too short I read all the reviews before I made my purchase, and had been looking at this quilt for several months because I was also buying new bedroom furniture as well. My husband doesn t like all the flowers and stuff, and I knew I needed something kinda dark because we have a small dog that thinks he has to tuck us in at night before getting on his own bed, but also knew I needed to match the seafoam green carpet. The jewel has all the right colors, used the lessett panels in crimson since the reverse side of the quilt is that color as well. I decided on the king size becausae the queen is always to short in the lenth and I figured it would be ok on the sides and tuck into my new bedframe. I was wrong, the length was still too short and the sides hit the floor on both sides. So to fix the problem instead of returning, I turned it so the stripes on going across the bed instead of down it. It worked much better but the width is still to long going down the bed to the foot. The sizing needs to be looked at by the manufacturer to fit beds better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value My husband and I needed a quilt/bedspread for a dual king adjustable bed, and from experience thought twin top bedding (normally only the bottom sheets are twins) would be easier to manage than king. We also wanted something suitable for both men and women, and which would minimize the width of the bed. Taking notice of other reviewers' comments that the quilts ran short and narrow, I bought two double/queens instead of twins. They are still short, but pillows with the shams hide that. Since the bed is not high nor the mattresses deep, the quilts are a little wide, but washing may fix that, and even if not, the excess is hidden between the mattresses. I could also trim the width and use the excess over the windows or on throw pillows. All arrived in perfect condition with none of the loose, picked or raveled threads others had complained of. The colors are handsome, too. The quilts appear of very good quality, especially for the price. This was an excellent buy. We're very pleased (as is the dog).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great after my help! I bought a pair of these for a redo of my home office. I liked the stripes and they do look very nice with my slate blue room and dark wood furniture. However, as other customers have indicated, they are very, very thin even though they are lined - the lining is also thin. I also bought 2 of the valences since the drapes hang on either side of a wide window. The valences are of a good weight. However, both the drapery panels and the valences were very uneven in length. I had to shorten the drapes anyway and add a thermal lining (I made it), so I made the drape panels even when shortened them and then I sewed the lining to the top of the back side of the panels. Because the valences were also very uneven, I had to take them apart and make them more even before I could join them together to make a very wide valance. I had planned to just join the 2 valences by lightly stitching them together. :-( Getting the panels and valence ready to hang turn-out to be a rather large project!! Fortunately, I know how to sew!!! - and I am retired!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really!!! Not Worth the Price!!! I'm an older single guy and have been looking for some "Manly" drapes for awhile now. I already own the Blue Bedspread so even after reading all the negative reviews, I took a shot. Turns out they are valid. If the drapes were made of the same materials as the spread and valences, they would be absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, even with the lining these drapes a terribly thin and sunlight passes right through them and that washes out the color in the daylight and being so light, they don't hang very well which show up at night. I put my old ivory linen drapes backup behind them for additional lining and this was a huge help as far as the light passing through them. I'm hoping they will eventually start to hang better in the folds. (I use to install draperies and I know this does happen) I'm only keeping them because I like the colors and I'm tired of looking...The Bedspread and Valances are worth the cost,,, but these Drapes are "Extremely Over Priced"!!!

What are the colors in each of the blue and jewle daybed covers?

I'm looking for black, yellow, burgundy, light and dark blue and greens. Do one of these match those colors? Thank you
Asked by: Heidi
blue, soft green, burgundy, mauve, warm yellows Difficult to describe The colors blend into a variety of shaded broad stripes. I am absolutely delighted with it. It blends in with any décor, does not fight with other colors in the room and is an outstanding value, The quality is also greay
