No, it is a platform bed, but it is actually slats across where you screw them into the rails. And not very many slats, you would need to fashion a plyboard and lay it on top if you want a true platform. It would be easily workable, but you'd need a very thick mattress just because of the headboard height, maybe. It's 50 inches tall. But the plyboard, if that's what you prefer, would be easy to engineer.
