Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just So Disappointed Would return if it weren't costly to me to do so. Bed dimensions for a full size bed, which is what I ordered, are terrible. Bought full size mattress and bed from JCPenny. The bedhead and footboard are queen size with holes drilled closer for the full size bed. My intentions were to take my grandson's queen size area down to full size area giving him room to play. well...that is shot. There is 3 inches to either side of the full size mattress where the slats and frame are exposed when assembled full size and then... there is about a foot on either side of the bed wasted due to the headboard and footboard being queen size. I really really really hate this bed.

Does this bed require a boxspring ?

Asked by: Customer1
You could put a plyboard on top of the slats fitting into the rails, (it is very very flat and easily workable) you would not need a box springs. The mattress should be an extra thick one due to the height of the headboard (total of 50 inches bottom to top) . I would recommend a box springs.

Does the platform rest on a plyboard ?

Asked by: Customer1
No, it is a platform bed, but it is actually slats across where you screw them into the rails. And not very many slats, you would need to fashion a plyboard and lay it on top if you want a true platform. It would be easily workable, but you'd need a very thick mattress just because of the headboard height, maybe. It's 50 inches tall. But the plyboard, if that's what you prefer, would be easy to engineer.
