I bought this to use at my Mother-in-law,s house where I am staying for the summer. I just couldn't be without Plates. I have a model 695 at home that I have used for several years. The main difference is that this only has three cord. I've never used more than three on the 695 so this is fine for me, but then I am a senior, not a power user. Also, you can buy a double strength cord if you need more resistance. Another difference is the lack of elevated pulleys. I know this won't be a problem as I had a model without them 12 years ago and that was fine with me. Other differences with the upscale 695 are less padding, narrower frame and, non-trapezoid platform. None of these are a problem. It also does not have the nice fuzzy grips. This is maybe the most noticeable difference but still not a problem. This machine gives me much the same experience of the more expensive model and is totally adequate as a machine for a second location. Eventually, I will take it home and my wife and I can do Pilates at the same time. I've tried and use other types of exercise and machines, but I keep coming back to Pilates. It is such a well rounded workout and is not as boring as others as you get 50 different exercises in half and hour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by giovisport Great addition to home equipment
As a bodybuilder, personal trainer and massage therapist I never would have thought to get my OWN "reformer" Performer! It is convenient easy to use and great for obtaining flexibility and range of motion in hips and trunk region. I am so glad my friend suggested I get one after I told her about my psoas issue. I am looking forward to a more balanced body. The three black bands are not enough resistance for leg or arm stuff ok for stretching. I also purchased two red bands which makes for a little more resistance for legs. But remember I am using for flexibility and strengthening smaller muscles not for building mass. :-)

I bought an Aeropilates reformer for my wife 2 years ago. She loved it so much that I started using it last year. I loved it so much that I just bought a second one so we can work out together. Awesome! A couple that works out together status together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paula A I love my reformer
I have an Aero reformer and it is about 8 years old and I use it everyday. When I got into Pilates I had back pain which was resolved with regular reformer work outs. Stamina provides great support, as I have replaced wheels and cords with ease. The website provides great resources too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by RayNJ65 My experience with the AeroPilates® Performer 286
I enjoy working out with the AeroPilates® Performer 286. The exercises aren't difficult to learn. I believe that it will help me maintain flexibility. I've had treadmills and bowflex machines in the past. The AeroPilates® Performer 286 is different than those types of machines. It doesn't provide a rigorous, calorie burning exercise like a treadmill or bowflex. Possibly, the more advanced machines and/or workouts do. However, for me, this machine satisfies my desire to maintain flexibility.
The machine is well built. It is somewhat portable and will fold in half and fit in a closet. However, it is pretty cumbersome to move folded up. I eventually decided to leave it permanently set up in my room instead of putting it in a closet after each workout.
