Rated 5 out of 5 by TeaRecks Beautiful, sleek design
I was a little nervous about ordering this bed considering the other two reviews, but decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. The bed has a sleek, modern design with a rich dark finish. The finish is seamless. The slats were sturdier than the slats on my old platform bed and there are double legs down the center; top, middle and bottom. We ordered a Serta iSeries king size mattress at the same time. It is a heavy mattress and there has been no sagging or any other issues with the slats. The bed, mattress and two dressers [fully assembled] were delivered a day early and the two gentlemen who delivered were professional and efficient. They put the bed frame together and everything was set up and ready to go when they left. I was so happy with the quality of the products and service that I immediately ordered a bench online. Thanks JC Penney!

Rated 1 out of 5 by enjd Looks great but with inferior wood for slats
Same exact thing with the first one who reviewed this bed. Yet we got this earlier than them and returned it just recently. We have a Sterns & Foster mattress, which is a pretty heavy and descent one. The bed headboard, footboard and side rails are really nice but the veneer esp. on the side rails are chipping easily. The wooden slats that holds the mattress are somehow similar to wood crate but lighter and much inferior wood they used.. surely not a solid wood. It ends up warping in the middle esp. the ones that doesn't have a 1"X1" post! clearly, the bed frame will not last even a year. Sad, because I couldn't find anything as nice as this design just yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Inthewoods2 Great frame - lousy platform cross-slats
My wife and I loved this bed - and the matching end tables. But we had to return it. For a platform bed, the slats were far too weak and flexible to support a bed - particularly if you are expecting to use this bed for a queen or, as in our case, a king bed. The cross slats were so weak and flexible that it made a great, new mattress feel like horrible. First, only 3 of the slots have any kind of support across the throw - in the form of two dowels that went to the floor. The rest are just soft wood that can't handle any amount of weight without bending. We didn't even realize we had an issue till we went to another bedding store and looked at what other platform beds have for slats - firm, resilient - the complete opposite of this bed.
We so wanted to keep this bed - but the slats were literally ruining a brand new mattress. Such a shame!
