Rated 1 out of 5 by Squash shredder Good idea, poorly executed
Bought to shred summer squash, returned it hours later. Was shredding some overgrown yellow squash which had somewhat hard skins, and after the first two, the shaft became lodged in the housing and would no longer rotate and could not be removed. I think many of the problems with this attachment start with the fact that the blades are extremely dull. I have butter knives that are sharper. Other people have reported that vegetables are turned to mush rather than sliced -- dull blades. Also, others report stress cracks and broken parts, probably from having to apply more pressure to cut due to the dull blades. This would probably be a decent attachment if the blades were sharp enough to actually cut. I returned mine to Bed, Bath & Beyond, who took it back with no problems and purchased a manual shredder with nice, sharp blades for about $20 less.

I received this as a gift a couple years ago. It has already rusted and the plastic has cracked. We use it maybe once a month to shred cheese and that is about it. For being a Kitchenaid product I was hoping for a better quality. Unfortunate it only has a year warrenty, I would have hoped it would have lasted longer than 1year.

This does not work well. The "stainless" cones rust. It also doesn't shred or slice cleanly pulverizing and turning whatever you try to put through into mush. I thought this would be great to replace a bunch of different gadgets and appliances that grate, shred and slice but I was so wrong! Besides the poor performance some kind of black grease keeps appearing and gets all over the place, on the food, all over my hands, it's everywhere!!!!

I couldn't get the parts to connect. Terrible design and no quality check. I would give it zero stars because it never worked.

Rated 1 out of 5 by sharon Very disappointed in the slicer shredder.
The shredder turned my Zucchini to a watery mush. I couldn't even use it. For the price I paid I expected a better operating shredder. I have to keep stopping to clean it out. It's hard to use and clean. But i really like the kitchen-aid mixer. But I won't buy anymore attachments.

The rotor cutting edges are so dull; everything is macerated.

Peppers, onions, zucchini, potatoes, every vegetable I put through it just gets turned to mush. Keeping clogging with skins when in use. It really just makes a mess.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lou So disappointed!!
I just got this yesterday, as a birthday gift. I was so excited because I've been wanting an attachment for my KitchenAid, and this is my first one! I'm extremely disappointed to report that the only thing it does well is shred cheese. It absolutely mangled a cucumber, potatoes came out a gloppy mess, and the onions were pulverized. There is absolutely no difference between the thick and thin slicer, either.....neither one produces nice, uniformly cut veggies that are of any reasonable thickness that are usable in recipes. So, I have an extremely expensive cheese grater. This makes me incredibly apprehensive about buying any other attachments.....and I really really wanted the pasta roller and ravioli makers! At $150+ I don't know if I'm going to spring for those if they work anything like this slicer/shredder. So disappointed!!
