Rated 5 out of 5 by great product! I LOVE making ice cream instead of buying it, and this product is perfect! I've used similar products in commercial kitchens, so I know how easy it is to use! It attaches effortlessly to KitchenAid mixer. Just keep it stored in the freezer when not in use so that it's always ready! April 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Incredibly Disappointing. At first, this seemed like an excellent product. Convenient, worked well, and easy to use. We have used it < 10 times and followed all the care instructions. Unfortunately, it developed a very small crack next to the "handle" part of the bowl (not even in a typical location), and began leaking the blue fluid inside. It's now useless. I contacted customer service with the complaint, but because it was received as a wedding gift, we do not have receipt. Instead of fixing their defective product, they offered to sell us another one at a discount of $66. Now, apparently this is a common problem with this mixer, and it's definitely not worth my money to buy another poorly made product. I would expect more from this product and from KitchenAid in general. Save your money, buy a different ice cream maker. June 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally... Home Made Ice Cream I love the ice cream attachment. When I received it as my birthday present the only part that did not fit my mixer was the drive shaft. Contacted KitchenAid and sent it to me at no cost. Now it fits my Pro Line 7. I made multiple ice creams already and works perfectly. I read other reviews that mention the bowl is leaking. What I do with mine is, first I do not get my freezer to the coldest settings, as mention in the instructions. The gel in the bowl freezes great, since it is the same type of gel use for the gel packs and it stays cold for hours outside of the freezer. Second, I do not get the bowl to touch the ice, I have a plastic mixing bowl and I put the ice cream bowl inside. And last, the instruction said when you are done with the bowl is to wash it in warm water. Here, what I do is I let the ice cream bowl to be at room temperature and the ice melted away and on them I wash it, otherwise you get the plastic to expand too fast and it will leak. I never store it in the freezer has mention in the instructions, I only put it in the freezer when I plan to make ice cream. To this day, no leaks!!! Hope those tips can help. May 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Results I purchased this Ice Cream Maker Attachment in the summer of 2008. I used it once before storing it away and recently resurrected it after seeing a television commercial. It creates incredibly tasty sorbet (I made Lemon Yesterday for the first time) and previously a Vanilla Custard Style Ice Cream which was deliciously creamy and decadent. Unlike the other reviewers I have not experienced any issues with leaking fluids etc. perhaps because I have an older model. My lift stand mixer was purchased as a wedding gift for my husband and I back in 1987. It was such an incredible gift and not a week goes by that I have not used it. Kitchen Aide products performed for our family. May 30, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by A huge disappointment. I am an avid Kitchenaid supporter. I have two stand mixers and almost all of the attachments to go with them. I went to use the ice cream maker for the first time today and what a disappointment. The bucket was stored in the freezer for weeks and thawed out so fast that the ice cream never hardened. It ended up turning into more of a liquid then when I started. This attachment does not reflect the high quality that I am used to with Kitchenaid items. I will not be recommending this to anyone else. June 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Read and Follow the Tips I've used the ice cream attachment once and learned a valuable lesson: reading is fundamental! My mistake was that my batter was too thick and I couldn't figure out how to pour the batter into the mixer while the blade was moving and not make a mess. So, I stopped the mixer after I'd spooned in some of the batter. BIG MISTAKE. Per the instructions, you MUST NOT STOP the mixer once you've started pouring batter. I tried to restart it and the blade was stuck. I mixed the ice cream by hand intermittently over 30 minutes (which still worked amazingly well because it freezes the ice cream in the bowl). I rated 4 on "ease of use" because I still can't figure out how to get the batter in the bowl without making a mess. May 21, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by LEAKS!!! Leaks blue...apparently a blue cooling gel! Do not even see a crack in the bowl, but it is leaking blue liquid after only a few uses. June 20, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Leaks blue fluid I received this as a gift at my wedding shower and I was so excited to try it. I used it once without an issue and now it leaks the blue fluid. I'm so disappointed that this only worked one time. Since it seems like everyone else is having the same issue there's not sense in replacing it to have the same thing happen again. June 13, 2016
