Rated 5 out of 5 by great product! I LOVE making ice cream instead of buying it, and this product is perfect! I've used similar products in commercial kitchens, so I know how easy it is to use! It attaches effortlessly to KitchenAid mixer. Just keep it stored in the freezer when not in use so that it's always ready! April 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Super easy to use! The ice cream maker attachment is super easy to use! After making my homemade ice cream I don't think I can ever go back to store bought ice cream, especially considering how easy it was to make. A couple of things that were the reason for my 4 star rating (vs. 5 stars:) - attaching the driver was not intuitive for me, especially since it didn't look like the picture in the manual and the manual didn't have good instructions. After looking through YouTube I figured it out. - not enough in the way of fruit ice cream recipes in the booklet but that's why there's the Internet. Rated 1 out of 5 by Doesn't fit 7qt Proline Models I bought this not realizing that it won't fit KSM7 (KitchenAid Stand Mixer 7qt) models. I froze my bowl all night and had everything ready; but couldn't figure out why I struggled getting the drive assembly on. Very disappointed to find that there in fact is an attachment that doesn't fit every mixer produced since 1919 as this company boasts so often. The message here: read the fine print on all attachments anyway. August 1, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Leaking blue fluid Not happy, used its few times, blue fluid leak from the bowl all over my wood cabinet. August 9, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Doesn't fit 7 qt?? Same problem as below; this attachment does not appear to fit the 7qt standing mixer. It took a while to figure this out since the included instruction manual has pictures for an entirely different style of drive assembly. Great work, Kitchenaid. August 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I bought the ice cream maker last week and of course had to use it right away. Just follow the directions and you can't go wrong. It made the best coffee ice cream I've ever had. This weekend it's butter pecan. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] July 29, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by So sad My mom bought this for me to make homemade ice cream to go with my cookies I make. I only use it twice before. Well I sat I u on the counter and wentertainment to the store to my the ingredients and when I came home there was blue liquid all on my counter. I had to throw it in the trash asap. Supper sad. Rated 1 out of 5 by Design Flaw In The Casting, Be Ready For It To Crack & Leak My wife and I received the ice cream attachment along with a mixer as a wedding gift. We used the ice cream maker once about 6 months after we got it then put it back in the original box for storage. We moved and pulled it out about a year and a half later and the big bump casting part of the outer bowl was cracked. KitchenAid was not very helpful in dealing with the problem. They basically told me that they knew it is a problem and would offer me %10 off a new one at full retail plus shipping which is still more than any online or box store retailer would charge. Being the tinkerer type I tried to repair the crack before throwing it away. I cut off the casting with a coping saw exposing the crack. I then scuffed the area with a course sanding drum on a dremel tool and put on a coating of JB weld over the crack. It has been in the freezer for 6 months and hasn't come off or leaked. I am happy I was able to repair it but was very disappointed by the corporate response given the track record of this crack happening in the exact same spot for years without a re design of the product or an unconditional warranty exchange.
