Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Much Better Than Expected After searching through websites and reading others' reviews, I took a chance a bought this one and it is AMAZING at the difference in my home! I have hardwood and tile floors throughout the house, 6 cats and one 100lb dog, so I vacuum nearly daily. My previous vac was a Eureka Optima (lightweight canister), and I've had it 6 years, but I was tired of emptying, pulling dust/hair from the filter, etc. I wanted one with a bag, just be done already, ya know? My mom still has her Kirby, nice and all, but it doesnt always get her pets' hair up and it is heavy as heck. So, keeping this in mind, I sought out Hoover (specifically), based on the fact my grandfather had at least 6 uprights from the 50's-70's randomly around his house & garage and I figured, well, he was no dummy and routinely collected multiples of what he considered "good product". Anyway.... I love the attachments, the on/off brush roll (i have one area rug) and the extra cord length. My main concerns were kitty litter and hair and this picks it up THE FIRST TIME. WITHOUT ME CHASING HAIR FLOATING AWAY! Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PICKS UP ALL THE PET HAIR I BOUGHT THIS MACHINE FOR MY NEW HOUSE WHICH IS ARMED WITH LINOLEUM, LAMINATE WOOD AND HIGH PILE CARPETING ALONG WITH A LONG HAIRED CAT, A CHINCHILLA THAT FREQUENTS THE CARPETED ROOMS AND A LONG HAIRED DOG. THE MACHINE DOESN'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE PICKING UP CAT, DOG AND CHINCHILLA HAIR FROM THE CARPETING AND FURNITURE. THE VACUUM ALSO HAS SUCCESS IN SUCTIONING UP CHINCHILLA DROPPINGS WHICH ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF TIC TACS. THE ONLY ISSUE I'VE HAD WITH THE MACHINE IS THAT IT HAS SCRATCHED MY LAMINATE WOOD FLOORING EVEN THOUGH THE FLOORING IS SUPPOSED TO BE UNSCRATCHABLE...I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS THE WHEELS THE SCRATCHED IT BUT THAT'D BE MY BEST GUESS - SINCE I UTILIZE THE BRUSHROLL SHUT OFF FEATURE FOR BARE FLOORS. THESE SCRATCHES CAN'T BE BUFFED OUT...AND ARE SPARATIC THROUGHOUT MY HOUSE, BUT I LEARNED QUICKLY AND STOPPED USING IT ON THE LAMINATE. OTHERWISE IT'S GREAT AND I HAVEN'T HAD A CLOG YET..WHICH IS SAYING A LOT BECAUSE THE HAIR FROM MY 120LB (NEWFOUNDLAND)DOG CAN CLOG UP ANYTHING.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst vacuum for pet hair This vacuum has a long power cord and has good suction, for me the pro's end there. I have a Golden Retriever and thought this would be a good vac for me. If anything, it is the worst for pet hair that I have ever had. It is designed so a strong current of air blows out the side and sends pet hair everywhere while you are vacuuming, it doesn't get close to wall edges, and the attachments are useless. They are advertised as having "cling free rubber wipers that remove stubborn pet hair". They are more like hard plastic that have no effect on the loosest of pet hair (when on fabric or carpet) and that is with suction. The box showed a brush attatchment but I didn't get one, manual said there was no guarantee that it would come with what was on the box. This is my first negative review I've ever written, wish someone had written one for me before I bought. I can not imagine how anyone with a pet could have recommended this vacuum.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good with Some Exceptions I purchased this online and have used it a few times. It seems like a good choice but there are a few details that could be improved. There should be some sort of detention device (like a spring-loaded tab, etc.) at the end of the wand to secure the tools because they slip-off too easily when relying on friction alone. Also, the dusting/upholstery tool should have bristles instead of the plastic blades. Otherwise, this seems like a well-designed machine. Only time will tell if it is reliable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I bought this vacuum hoping to replace my previous Hoover vacuum that I loved. Unfortunately I am highly disappointed. Half of what I try to vacuum is left on the floor. While vacuuming the brushes stop working. If your not holding it almost straight up the vacuum lifts off the floor. And forget about cleaning hard surface floors. It's also VERY loud!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than a more expensive one! A big plus is that the brush roller can Easily be removed for cleaning - with big dogs in the house, my old one clogged and there was no easy way to clean it. The suction is very good - it got out dog hair between the carpet and the wall with the crevice tool that the old (more expensive) one did not remove. It was also easy to assemble -

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Vacuum I repair vacuums that have been donated to a charity. I've fixed hundreds of machines. This vacuum has all the niceties that many more expensive models have, at a reasonable price. Have just tested the machine, using all possible situations in my home. Performs very well...especially sucking up my Maine Coons fur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed When I started to vacuum the brushes didn't turn at first but I figured it out. Normally I set the height on low or medium but for this one it needed to be on high then it worked very well. My other cleaners would only ball the hair up but not pick it up. I was so impressed I bought one for my daughter as well.
