Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice! These curtain rods are very nice. No-nonsense, easy to use. June 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Product I purchased these rods to hang sheers under a valance and needed then to be hidden and these worked perfectly. They were easy to install and since the rod holding the valance was away from the wall they were able to be installed right under the valance. Very happy with the look! April 14, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by simple rod, would benefit from more instructions I used these rods for Royal Velvet® Supreme Rod-Pocket Lined Door Panel door curtains that run on the rods above and below the window in the door, which is about 70" tall. These rods are sturdy enough for those particular curtains. I had some issues mounting the brackets on the door, partly because the door was not solid wood. Initially, I drilled into the door to create holes for the screws, but I must have picked a drill bit that was too big because the screws were loose on the mounting bracket. I switched to punching a hole in the door with a hammer and nail and that resulted in much more secure screws and brackets. The instructions were a spare set of four illustrations. I wonder if more instructions would have helped me pick a better method from the start. August 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Needed These I an glad these rods came 2 in a pack. I have patio doors, and needed 2 sets for my pocket curtains January 25, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Gets the job done These curtain rods offer reasonable value and performance compared to competing products. They are no-frills, but certainly functional. They will support heavy drapes (for a time, at any rate) and are easy to put up; pretty much any adult should easily be able to do the job. I only wish these were made in the USA - the quality would almost certainly be better if they were. These rods are not built to last the way things were a few generations ago; they will likely not go with you if you switch residences, and will likely not last on this earth as long as you will. In other words, they are built to be "disposable," like everything else in the modern world. December 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect rod for positioning sheers closer to the window... Arrived in perfect condition - not bent like some rods are. Easy to install with a ruler, drill and phillips-head screwdriver. Used for hanging sheers but will support more weight. Handy hardware center piece that prevents the rod from drooping or bending when using for wider windows or heavier drape material. Stays in place but easy to take down if sheers need removing. No tools needed. Low profile rod. Perfect rod for positioning sheers closer to the window allowing more room for fancier pinch-pleated drapes when using a second, outer rod for the drapes. Rated 5 out of 5 by sturdy This size was very hard to find online or otherwise. When they arrived, I was pleased with the overall quality and sturdiness of these rods. They hold my light drape over two small closet openings. May 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Quality Usually this type of rod are low quality and flimsy, bend easily NOT so with this set. They are made of thick metal do not bend easily. I am impressed with the quality. November 7, 2014

I would like the curtains as close to the window as possible for insulation. The next size is 2 1/2" from wall, and I feel that is too far from window, but I'll have to do whatever works. Thank you!

Answer:
I would say so since when I used the 1 1/2inch rod for the same purpose and in my case to also be under a valance and needed it to be close to the wall it worked perfectly, Hope this helps.
