by torinosmiles Defective Blind
The blind is beautiful in color and the fabric side which faces the room looks and feels of very good quality. The problem though is on the white side which faces the street. The blind arrives with no problems showing. Then after the blind is rolled up and down a couple of times, holes start developing on the white side of the blind. The holes do not come all the way through to the colored side. But when the sun is shining and the blind is down, the holes are very obvious since the sun shines through them. It's as if there is something sticky that pulls the white and makes it start peeling off. The holes always appear in the same place on each blind. They are located in the middle of the blind, going straight up and down, beginning about 3 feet up from the bottom of the blind. Pennys has replaced the blind for me 4 times. And it is doing it on this 4th one also.

by Robindays sizing was difficult; screws very cheap
I ordered three shades with two different widths 1/4 inch apart. They smallest one is actually at least an inch shorter. We were able to get two of the shades to fit, but one of the wide ones was too wide for any of the three windows (the shortest one was almost too short, but it works). We did an inside mount -- the screws are very cheap and we were afraid we'd strip them, so we had to find screws that worked better than the ones they provided. We ended up using decking screws which had a star bit. The heads stick out a little but don't show behind the screen. The holes in the side mount bracket application are VERY close to the window itself, making it nearly impossible to use a drill or drill bit -- we had to bring out the mount about 1/4 inch to be able to use the drill. The mount, because it is designed for all purposes (including outside mount) does not work that great for an inside mount. In fact, this was one of the problems trying to get the shade to fit -- it sticks out a good 1/4-3/8 inch total (1/2 that on both sides, in other words -- see pic), giving us that much less space for the shade for side to side. I had to reorder the shade that didn't fit, and I ordered 1/4 inch shorter rather than 1/8 shorter that they say to order. Because of all this (trying to make it work), there was a great deal of hassle to putting these up and trying to make them work. They do seem to be what we need (something to block sun glare). The price was fair for what we got on sale. It is not worth the full price, however.

We ordered these thermal window shades for 5 of our windows. They fit and work very well. They really block the sunlight. It's like a home theater when we pull them.

Beautiful window coverings - perfect fit. I'm using it in the room where sun is shining just for couple of hours in the morning and is perfect for privacy in the evening.

I recently purchased three made to order window shades for my bedroom. Three odd window sizes. In listening to their directions they fit perfect. Great quality.

My shade came 3 months after I initially placed the order. And when it FINALLY arrived, the hardware for installing it for an inside mount was not the right type of hardware. We have to go to the hardware store and find something that will work. The entire experience was a MAJOR FRUSTRATION AND LET DOWN.
As for the quality of the product? I'll let you know when we FINALLY hang it. But we have to go to the hardware store first. Redundant? Yes. Just like the emails letting us know that our shade had been back ordered each month.

Overall, this is a wonderful shade. We have 54 windows in our 1906 built house, so I have spent considerable time searching for and trying out replacements. The shade itself is made of excellent material--very durable and serves to block out excess heat or cold. This is by far much better than I have been able to find in hardware or low end retail or stores.
Caveats: We cannot use the mounting hardware as it is made for flat frames--ours have molding that extends out of the frame. The only reason I might have used these is that our old fashioned brass mountings are set in the opposite way, so I was forced to slice off the shade and tape it on in the reverse direction, but this seems to be holding up. Yikes! I hated to do it, but the shades are so much better than our older ones that I just had to try it out. My only concern will be with how well the springs on the rollers hold out.
