Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spend the extra $ and get the top down/bottom up I have replaced all the blinds in my home in the past couple years, purchasing the cell shades for the house and for the closed in porches, the pleated blinds because the cells did not come in the width for those windows. They are all cordless. You can't beat the price for Penney's blinds. And they have sales all the time so that lowers the price even more. The blinds look custom when they are up. Have had no issues with them not working properly. I only got the tdbu for the bathroom window and a window in my office where I work for my employer. If I could go back in time, I would get the tdbu for ALL the windows. So wonderful to have your privacy and still let light in. I live in my town, not on the outskirts, so privacy can be an issue. Love love love the hardware for installing these. So much easier than the many pieces needed for my old vinyl blinds. Then the blind just snaps in or out when I need to take them out to clean the window. They are lightweight to handle also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shades for the money I bought thirteen of these shades in December 2013. They arrived in perfect condition and in a timely manner. Installation was not too difficult; just a little tricky snapping them into the mounted bracket, as another reviewer described. I love these shades! The ability to open or close from the top or the bottom is wonderful. I can arrange just the balance between light and privacy that I desire. When fully open, they take up minimal space and don't block my windows, which is important to me. Now, I have to admit, they are not the same quality of construction that you might find in some really expensive shades, but mine are two years old and work and look like brand new. Two of my original thirteen failed within a few months, but JCP cheerfully ordered replacements for them at no cost. These shades are on sale often, and with an available coupon the price is excellent. I can recommend them with confidence, so much so that my daughter is planning to buy them for her new house, too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love these shades! (With some reservation) I've been wanting the top-down bottom-up shade ever since I discovered they were a thing. THey look great and I love the fact that I can lower the top. I leave the top partly down at night so I can see the night sky and have some sunshine in the morning...while still maintaining privacy. My only concern is that they are VERY fussy. I bought one for the living room and one for the dining room. When my husb first put them up, the shade hung crooked...one side hung lower at the top and the other side hung lower at the bottom. I was really frustrated because they were both like that and even though the price of these at JCP was lower than other places, it was still a relatively lot of money for 2 shades. We actually took them down and packed them up to return them. Then my husb decided to read the insert and he discovered that you can adjust them. SO we put them back up again and played with adjusting them. We did get them to hang pretty level but you have to raise and lower them very carefully from the center or they will get crooked again and you have to readjust. Basically, they look great when adjusted to hang level. Great value. But they will only look good if handled carefully. Make sure to read the insert!! I'm not sure how durable they are and I def don't think they'd be good for kids to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very glad we made this purchase We have been looking at these shades for a while now but always hesitated because of there cost. They were on sale and we bought them. I wish we wouldn't have waited so long. They were easy to install, look very nice from inside of the room and from the outside of the house. They don't darken the room as much as a regular shade but it's not that big of a difference. I would definitely recommend them and may even purchase a few more for our other windows in the house..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love my new blind!! My new blind looks great in our new bathroom. This is my first experience with a bottom up top down blind. I was very curious about it, but it's quite straight forward - when the top is down there are still two cords connecting the blind to the top; other than that it's very similar to other cordless blinds. I read from earlier reviews that it can get lopsided and I almost did that by moving the blind too quickly and with uneven pressure, but it was minor and worked itself out. I would recommend it, especially for situations like ours when you want privacy on the lower portion of the window in a bathroom but I love washing my hands at the sink and being able to look out the top of the window.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some concern about quality Blinds were easy to install & look nice in the window. I am concerned about the durability of the blinds. The top/down mechanism is not well designed. The top tab easily lifts and lowers the blind but the lower tab is at an awkward angel and I find the need to handle the base (frequently contacting the blind which I suspect will be soiled as a result). Additionally, I have found that when lowering the blind fully the upper section will sneak down on one or both sides and needs to be manipulated on top and bottom for correction. Only time will tell if the great price justifies the shortcomings :|

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design & Great Value I'm on my 2nd set in 4 years. There was nothing wrong with the first set but they got dirty since I live in the city. This 2nd set (bought Feb 2017) seems even better and stronger fabric. they fit into the same hardware clips as my old ones. And of course, the top-down-bottom-up feature allows privacy on the bottom while still being able to see the sky thru the top. Again, great design and great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blinds I Love these blinds, I have now ordered 9 of the same ones, in varying widths for different rooms. easy clean lines. The sun shines through but provides privacy. Easy installation. I had someone come in and ask if we repainted a room bc it looks so updated with the blinds.

Outside color?

Is the outside/"street side" color of these a uniform white? Or does it match the selected shade color?

How sheer are these shades? Can you see in from the outside at night with lights on?

What is the minimum vertical height of the 48" and 64" blinds, if I want to let in as much light as possible?

Asked by: BBrown
You can condense them down all the way anywhere from the very top to the very bottom. The total combined height of the completely condensed blind is at the very max 2 inches. Very versatile in that regard. If you place the top bracket within the window, as opposed to above the window, the bracket takes up about an inch in length.

Would these still work if you mounted them horozontally?

Have 2 windows that are mounted horizontally instead of vertically... they're a 33" height and a 53" length, and of course open sideways so I'd like to mount these blinds for sideways opening too . Will that work?(hope that makes sense) thanks to anyone that can help !!

Does the top mounting bracket fasten to the top or the side frame?

I have a large window where I want to put three sections of shades. So the side window frame would only be on opposite sides of the two outer shades. The middle shade would not have window frame on either side, so it wouldn't work if it has to fasten to the side.
Asked by: Claudio
Top of the frame is where you would mount these shades
