Rated 5 out of 5 by Miles Great small fan
This is about the nicest smallish fan I have been able to find, in terms of build quality and performance. I have 2 of them now. The motor itself looks to be similar to those in less expensive turbo style fans, but that's based on just looking at it. It does feel more substantial and moves more air than any other similar sized fan. I like the nice mechanical switch. Low is whisper quiet. Medium can be a bit loud, while high is turbo-prop loud - but it sure blows a lot of air at the high setting. I wish there was a medium-low option, something that made some noise for sleeping. But I suspect that given the limit of the motor design and 120AC supply voltage, something medium-low would require an electronic speed control adding complexity and reliability concerns. Quite impressed though with the build quality. It's nice to see someone taking pride in making and mfg something in the home products category. I don't need luxury products, just something that works well, and will last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jaime Its an air circulator
I bought this air circulator on account of its long design history. It is noisy but I am sold to the design and its power to move air. It claims to circulate air and even out room temp in all spots so I bought it. It is hard to sell it to my family if I asked their opinion about it. It costs 3 to 4 times as much as the rest (14in usual stand fans). But costs half as much as 14in direct drive motor fans with lots of features. But I ended up buying the 533 after buying the big fans and it does stand its ground in unique design and quality (really, I won't be able to buy it if they knew I was going to buy a costly small fan). They use it often, too, because it is very portable and the air movement is strong. We bring it with us on trips. About the circulation, how do I "see" it in actual test as it even out room temp? Your videos are all CGI! Do "obstructions" matter a lot to its effectiveness?

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cabara Not Worth the Money
The fan worked really well ... for less than a year. Then it just wouldn't start up again. I can tell electricity is getting to the fan, but the blades just don't move at all. Very disappointing.

Vornado made a great fan/air mover. This one lasted a day or two before it buzzed and vibrated.
Rattle rattle shake shake
I try to sleep but lay awake
I spent my dough but bought heartache
my brand new fan would hiss and quake

Rated 1 out of 5 by 530good533mediocre this product was a great disappointment
I mistakenly bought the 533 instead of the 530. I thought they would be comparable. I love the 530 and recommend it to all of my friends. While costing the same, the 533 has a louder lower noise than the 530, and definitely is weaker than the 530. If the 530 circulates 70 feet, the 533 most certainly does not. Vornados have a much higher price (almost twice as much) as compared to other brand fans, but I was willing to pay such differential since I think the 530 is a superior product. The 533 is not as good as the 530 and does not warrant being sold at the same price as the 530 and the 533 is not worth the price difference with other brands. Fortunately, I bought the 533 while my 530 is still working, and thus could make the comparison. I am seriously thinking about returning the 533 and buying something less expensive or looking for the 530. In summary, the 533 is not worth the price when compared to the 530.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jascogle Amazing relief in New Orleans' August heat!
House was built in 1929. No central air, and the heat by radiator died from rust in the furnace. Using hot/cold window units since. The unit off my bedroom has barely been functioning this year, and my friend who's going to install a new unit has been working 12-14 hours, 6 days/wk. It's August, and I couldn't sleep from the heat. Bought one of these little circulators just to see if it would help more than the fan I was using. I am now sleeping under a cover, blissfully!!! I will be getting a larger one to use in the front of the house, where the dining room has a new, powerful window unit. I am confident that this will render the three adjoining rooms equally comfortable. Thank you, Vornado!
