Rated 4 out of 5 by Mr Rick from GFC530V Disposal Assistance Needed I have installed 3 GE disposals over the years with no issues. This one, however, is giving a me trouble. I am unable to compress the Cushion Mount sufficiently to get the Hopper to connect to the Mount Ring. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by doc63 from just what i needed. I bought this item about 3 days ago .It replaced the disposal that was in before. The old disposal was installed in 1999,the old one still worked but i replaced the dishwasher and replace everything together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bsalz from Quiet I bought this to replace a 1/3hp InSinkErator Badger 1. The Badger was badly corroded from our very hard water. I installed the GE in a Corian molded sink and it's extremely quiet. I think a stainless sink would amplify the sound more than the Corian. I chose this model because it has a stainless grinding chamber instead of cast iron. I expect it to withstand the onslaught of hard water better than cast iron. On the down side, the rubber baffle does not allow the water to drain quickly. The inside diameter of the collar/flange for the discharge elbow was too big for the elbow and I had a small leak where the elbow contacts the disposer. I used my old elbow which fit perfectly with no leaks. Also, you'll want to lube the support ring, mounting ring and cushion mount so you can rotate/tighten these components more easily. I tightened the support ring on each of the two days following the initial installation. I think the plumbers putty compressed with time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by silver_eagle from Adequate, nothing exciting 1. noise--louder than expected 2. easy to install overall, the nut holding down the bottom plate is difficult to access--too small of an opening around the nut. 3. smaller inlet/throat than the previously installed model could use the previous strainer 4. different mounting--had to remove previous mounting brackets--which I thought were industry standard--at least I have seen the previous mounting brackets on all of the previous disposals that I have worked on. 5. the hole in the cover plate that holds the discharge tube on is too large or the flange on the discharge tube is too small--thus the discharge tube could gap and allow leakage. Added a plastic compression gasket which centered the metal opening and will keep it from leaking. This forced me to install longer bolts, since the ones supplied were not intended to have a gasket under the metal plate. 6. nice size, give a lot more room under the sink 7. space under the bottom plate for the electrical connections is not very generous overall good enough for the price I paid for it.
