Rated 5 out of 5 by Barb in the Cape from Exactly what we wanted! The WHITE ceramic cooktop was exactly what I wanted in my new kitchen. As an older consumer, I was interested in safety features. I did not want touch-pad controls no knobs in the front of the cooktop. So the knobs being on the side was a feature that sold me! I'm very pleased with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gloria3 from Great cooktop. The dual surface element well worth extra money. It heats the entire surface of my large skillets, making excellent browning. I have no negatives to say about the cooktop. Very pleased with the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Diane Theresa from This cooktop looks modern but fragile. I have only had this cooktop for a week. It replaced (no kidding) a unit from the Mad Men era of 1963. I kept the old cooktop because it had a feature I could not find anywhere today: an old GE "burner with a brain". I could set one of the burners that was equipped with a sensor to the exact temperature I wanted, and it held it perfectly. If I were making fudge and the recipe said to cook at 236 degrees, I could set it, and the candy thermometer would read 236. I was spoiled! When the old girl finally died (no spare parts available), I got this one - a nice clean white - the only GE flat cooktop available in white. I had to buy all new cookware because my favorite cast iron Le Cruset, Pyrex glass, and Club Aluminum pans were not longer allowed. The new cookware MUST be PERFECTLY flat to work. Take a straight edge to check while buying. This unit takes longer to reach boiling than the old unit (it cycles off and on while coming up to temperature) and longer to cook but it eventually gets the job done. There is a long list of rules: no wet pots, special cleaners, pots must be the exact size of the burner, etc.; things I never had to think about before because the old one was a rock solid work horse. It is just more fragile in that it can crack or scratch or overheat. Read the instruction manual before buying if you haven't used one before. I wish the higher end cooktops came in white because I could not face working on a depressing black stove, instead hoped to make my kitchen lighter and brighter rather than using the dismal gray or stainless. Also would have liked the tri-ring feature. The dual ring is very limiting for cookware size. And GE, why not get the sensor cooking element back? If you could do it in 1963, surely it could be done digitally today. I would gladly trade up!
