Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't need anything more than this dryer. I'm a simple guy. I have wet clothes, I need them dry, with as little fuss as possible. This does just that, and it does it well. Minimalist in design. Very nice capacity for a family of four to five. It's a simple dryer with old style/analog controls! No boards (at least at the controls) to mess up. A click of each nob, a press of the button, and your clothes are on their way to being dry. Don't overthink a dryer, you don't need all that fancy stuff! You've got conventional timed drying, and the "Optimum Dry" that senses when your clothes are dry and stops. What else do you need?! Another thing I like, it doesn't get scorching hot. My last dryer (from 1992) would get super hot. This is cool to the touch, maybe 80 degrees. I hit it with my laser thermometer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from large capacity drum Having replaced a very old drier we were surprised at the speed and heat of the drying process in the new one. As we don't normally dry our wash completely this fact is not a plus as we haven't yet become accustomed to hovering near the appliance. So far, the product is satisfactory, however and it certainly does dry things very quickly. Also, a minor point: the sides are 'beveled' down so the washer and drier sitting side-by-side do not provide a single flat surface. Perhaps not an issue for some, but I use the space as much as possible given my very small kitchen. Just know that it will be a 'V' in the center. The item does fit very well in the confined laundry area we have which was the major factor in our decision to purchase,.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works OK, except for door switch This is a decent fairly low cost dryer. However, the door doesn't latch closed tightly, and, therefore, the door switch does not turn on. I have to simultaneously lean on the door, while pushing the "on" switch to start the dryer. Usually, the dryer will stay on to completion, but sometimes it shuts off in the middle of a cycle. Presumably a little vibration disengages the door switch. I am trying to figure out a simple way (e.g. extend the switch button with a cap) to eliminate or at least reduce the problem. The actually source (hard to change without massively machining the door) is the fact that the door latch is at the top (why not the middle?) and the switch is at the bottom. This is an atrocious design.

Electric hookup

Due to my old dryer the electric hookup is a three prong. The new dryer has a differrent three prong hookup. I would like to know if I have to change it myself or the installer?
Asked by: George
Hello George - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. The dryer must be on its own circuit; this is true of gas or electric. Most electric dryer power cords are sold separately to ensure that they comply with all state and local wiring codes, which vary locally. Since it is not known what dryer cord will be needed, your dealer usually provides the power cord. Therefore, we recommend checking with your sales representative. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
