Rated 2 out of 5 by from A backward step in convenience. Several disappointments: 1) A big one is the inside light. It does shine when door is open & also when cooking. But you cannot see what's going on when cooking, because the door front (black model) is so dark you have to put your face right up to it to even see a dim outline. There are times when seeing if food is bubbling, melting, boiling, etc is very useful without having to repeatedly open the door to check. Our previous GE didn't have this problem. 2) The buttons (pushpads) on oven front are not backlit, so if your kitchen is dim it's hard to see what's what. 3) The 4 speed fan is nice, but it lacks a separate on/off switch. So you have to push the speed switch repeatedly to scroll thru the speeds to shut it off. Then to turn fan back on you again scroll thru the speeds. If there was a separate on/off switch, you could keep the fan speed set at #2 for instance & just turn on & off using the on/off switch. Our previous GE model had none of these problems so this is disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I bought this because I liked how it looked. Big face reminded me of a sleek TV. I don't like how little light there is inside. Other than that the microwave is good. Has ability to recirculate or vent outside depending on your kitchen configuration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Little over a month old and already needs repaired Little over a month old and already needs repaired - Turntable doesn't turn. Have to use vacation time to be home for the repair because GE doesn't offer weekend or repair times outside of M-F 9 - 5pm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THE LOOK OF THE INSIDE HAS CLEAN LINES AND A NON-BUSY LOOK. SO GLAD TO HAVE AN INTERIOR THAT IS SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHITE. HAS LOADS OF OPTIONS. VERY DEEP INSIDE.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Microwave functions well Microwaves well, baked potato program not accurate but if you add 2 minutes after it thinks it is done it is fairly close. The push buttons are exactly that they are definitely not touch controls. If you want to watch what you are microwaving this is not the microwave for you. The glass on the door is so dark you think the interior light is not working. If you want to check on your food you have to open the door. We can live with the push buttons, but not being able to check on our food is a growing problem for us. We are extremely disappointed with this microwave.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Microwave has excellent cooking features, but ... We bought this microwave 3 months ago to replace our 18-yr old Whirlpool "over-the-stove" one which stopped working. After reading printed and on-line reviews, we decided to purchase a GE microwave. The unit has a number of convenient cooking features and is the same overall size as our old unit. However, it has three physical characteristics that are significantly different from the old unit and to which we had to adjust. 1) The door consists of the entire front of the unit. The controls are across the bottom of the door - not on a side panel - and the handle is recessed into its right side. It opens with a much wider arc than the door of the replaced unit and requires the person opening it to stand to the right of the unit and further away from the front to avoid being hit by the door. The situation become apparent only after it was installed in our rather narrow galley kitchen. 2) The glass in the door is neither transparent nor opaque, and the interior light is quite dim. Neither characteristic was obvious in the showroom because the floor model was not plugged into to an electrical outlet. 3) The interior finish is dark gray, and because of the dim interior light, splatters and spills are hard to see and clean up as they occur. In summary, we like the range of cooking features of this model - our primary reason for choosing it. However, we failed to notice the inconvenient physical aspects of the model which caused us to be initially disappointed with our choice. Now that we have used it for 3 months, we can recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Window that doesn't work This is our second GE Microwave. Disappointed that the window doesn't allow you to see what is cooking in the microwave. The small holes on the inside of the oven door and the holes on the outside of the oven door don't line up and as a result you can't see anything in the oven while the food is cooking, a real design flaw!!! Also we liked the soften butter mode on our last unit and this unit does not have one!
