Rated 2 out of 5 by from Where can I recycle my old filter? Filter was easy enough to replace but have found it difficult to find a resource to properly dispose of or recycle my old filter. Online searches suggest GE supports recycling but I have yet to find a resource where I can mail or drop off my old filter.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't work as expected The original filter that came in our refrigerator when we bought it worked very well. Water tasted good. Ordered a replacement filter and flushed 3 gallons of water out after installing new filter. Water tasted fine. After a few days the water had a plastic taste to it. Yuck! We stopped using it. After several weeks I called and the customer service sent out a one time free replacement which I really appreciated. I installed the new filter and did as before, flushing out 3 gallons of water. Water tasted good. Then after a few days water started tasting plasticky again. I decided to dispense out more water, and then the water tasted better. I have decided that if we don't use the filtered water very often, then it needs to have a few cups of water dispensed and then the water will taste better. Sounds crazy but that is what has happened. What I don't understand is that the original filter that came with the new refrigerator did not have this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter!!! I've been using these filters for over ten years now. From well water to city water. Have had nothing but great results always clear and odor free water. Using them on well water, I could only get about 3 months out of them. On city water, I replace them yearly. I can say though, after a year on city water I took the old filter off and looked into it and it looked like mud. I am so thankful that I don't drink that "funky water" any more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GE MWF Filters Not lasting I have had to purchase a new GE MWF filter every 2 months. It will end up costing me more in filters over a couple years than the cost of the refrigerator. Very misleading advertising that they last up to 6 months. We are a three person family with regular water usage and have never had one last over 3 months. At 2 months, the water begins to come out so slowly that you are forced to buy another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! Have had the system for over a year and I replace the filter every three months. I am on a renewal program so I do not have to be concerned about when to replace. It is perfect for me.
