Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, safe, easy to use I had the previous generation of the same brand & model iron. This one is even better. It has added safety features (e.g.: SIDE tip-over, in addition to end tip-over). The fill port is at a better angle -- it fits easier under the faucet. The self-cleaning feature is easier to use than the previous generation. There is one thing that could be improved. The temperature selector knob is difficult to adjust while ironing. If the knob were a bit bigger in diameter, then I could adjust the temperature without needing to stop and set the iron end-up and use both hands. (My guess is that they made it difficult on purpose, to keep people from accidentally turning it up too high while ironing. But, the knob has little detents for that purpose. They did not need to over-do it.) Overall, though, this is a minor frustration. I'd still recommend this iron to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall very good iron This iron heats up quickly and does a good job. I have not had to buy an iron in a very long time so was pleased to learn that it did not require distilled water. The retractable cord was the deciding factor in my choice to try this iron. The only downside is the awkward placement of the dial which is under the handle; It is not user-friendly at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light Weight, Smooth Surface. I chose this iron for it's features, but also because it's light. The iron glides nicely over my clothing, steam and spray work very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good iron; good value I needed to replace my old Sunbeam steam iron as the base fell apart, After looking through the features on various irons and having liked the performance on my old iron, I opted for replacing what I thought was the same instrument. I almost sent it back when I realized why it was heating up appropriately: the new model has the dial for heat settings notched 180 degrees differently than the old model. Also the burst and spray buttons are the reverse of the old model. Once I figured those out, it provided the same reliability. When it stands up its height is about 1/2 inch higher than the old one so it doesn't fit on the shelf where I store it when cold. I don't understand why they had to mess with success.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the Job Done +Good Value for the Price My Rowenta iron died recently and I had to run out and buy another iron pronto! Since JCP didn't have my first choice iron in stock in the store, I selected this iron based on the retractable cord and automatic shutoff feature - the shot of steam feature also sounded really good for dealing with stubborn wrinkles and doing creases. If the weight of an iron is a consideration for you, this is also an easy to handle medium weight (not light and definitely not heavy) iron and handles well. I am used to a much more powerful iron (specifically Rowenta) but I have to say, this iron did a very good job and did not disappoint me. For serious ironers however, who do a lot of men's shirts and more heavy duty ironing, this would not be the best choice. Even the shot of steam feature didn't get out bad wrinkles nor do a great job on my husband's denim jeans or work uniforms. It's a very good iron for every day light to medium weight work though and I would recommend it; I personally need more of a workhorse iron. I will be keeping it as good back-up iron should anything happen to my new Rowenta.
