Rated 2 out of 5 by from Always tasted like plastic While this coffee maker worked every time we used it, and it was very easy to set up and clean, there was always a plasticy taste in every pot. I originally bought this to keep hot water in the kitchen for hot tea (which I drink a lot). I followed the directions of cleaning everything and dumping the first batch. The second batch of water had a plastic taste to it, and even the third batch of water. I figured maybe it was just the water tasting funny, so I made a batch of coffee with filtered water... still plasticy tasting. I'm glad so many people like this product, and my 12-cup coffee maker I already had is a Mr. Coffee and I've never had problems. In fact my old 12-cup coffee maker is like 30 years old and still going strong. I was disappointed that this 4-cup coffee maker didn't meet my expectations at all, it never failed to taste like plastic, no matter what I brewed or what water I used. Needless to say I returned it, and then I found an electric tea kettle, which is awesome for a whole lot more than just tea!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bring back the old shaped pot I have always had Mr. Coffee Makers the small 4 cup manual type. My last one the heat plate finally stopped working after years of service. I went to purchase a new one and the style had changed. I thought it looked "cute," but cute isn't functional. You can not get your hand into the pot to clean it and it drips when you pour the coffee. The other issue is how the pot pushes the top of the grounds holder and when you pull out the pot it drips all over the heat plate, this must be wiped before you can replace the glass pot. As I said, I like Mr. Coffee Makers, but this design needed a bit more R&D. Sad to say, if I had the money I would buy a different coffee pot. Bottom line, I believe this is just a bad design. Mr. Coffee Pots have always been great in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little coffe pot! This was a replacement for the previous model, which I had owned for years. It is the perfect size for one person! The only thing I don't like about it: There is a hole in the back at the top of the water container which my old model did not have. If I put more than exactly 4 cups of water (measured by the accompanying carafe) in, it spills out the back of the coffee pot and runs all over my countertop. Word of caution!! Measure the water carefully or you'll have a big mess to clean up! Other than this one issue (Why in the world did they put a hole there????) the coffee pot works beautifully and is the perfect size for what I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Little Machine!! I have had this little machine for 4 years now. I use it about 3-5 days per week. It still brews coffee that tastes great and comes out at the proper serving temperature, hot but not burning your mouth. When you pour into a ceramic mug and add a little cream the temperature is perfect to drink right away. If you put the coffee into a stainless steel insulated mug, you will have too wait awhile before it cools down to drinking temperature. I used to preheat my insulated travel mugs but no more if I want to drink right away. If I want to drive a few miles before drinking the coffee I will still preheat the mug. The machine itself works as well now as the day it was new. The only issue is that the heat plate under the carafe has rusted a bit. It still functions fine and this is a cosmetic defect that take this great little machine from 5 stars down to 4. Nevertheless, I would buy this again, it is a fantastic performer for the very low price. The gold tone filter performs flawlessly and saves you a bunch in buying paper filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific! I've been using the 4-cup Mr Coffee both at home and at the office for year. They are terrific little coffee makers for individual, for small families, or for the office. Just enough to fill a 20 ox coffee mug or vacuum bottle, or enough for two cups at home. They do eventually need to be replaced; usually because the heating plate gets corroded, but they are so inexpensive that it's not a problem to buy anew one every few years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Coffee Maker I've had this coffee maker in my office for over ten years, and still use it daily. I makes great coffee! The only trouble I've had was when the screw that holds the handle on loosened, and I had to open the handle to tighten it. A hole in the handle, in line with the lock screw would be great so that you wouldn't have to unsnap the handle if it needs to be tightened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from does what it says I have owned half a dozen coffee makers over the last twenty years and the only one that always brought a smile to my face is this simple 4 cup machine. I just want a good, fresh cup of coffee and this machine does the trick. I have owned my most recent one for a year and the one before it for three years. It does a great job. Please keep on making it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's the little things..... Why are there only 2 "feet" for the bottom? Makes it uneven, which is driving my hubby nuts. I know this is a small matter, but sometimes it's the little things that make the difference when considering a purchase. We even took the first one back because we thought it was an oversight, but the new one is also missing feet. UGH!
