Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great features, poor execution I wear dress shirts with ties daily for the past 30 years. I have purchased mostly these for the past 10+ years. I love that I can machine wash and then pull these from the dryer during the tumble cool down cycle and have zero need to iron them. They are wrinkle free. My difficulty with these shirts is that the collar tips and cuff edges wear through the colored exterior very quickly. These shirts are different than others I own in that the fabric color does not appear to be dyed all the way through the fabric like other brands, so when they wear a little in the washer/dryer the white underlayer is exposed to show through at the collar tips and cuff edges. Even when my other brands of shirts do become worn at the tips and edges they do not expose a white underlayer in this way, I think because the color is dyed all the way through the fabric. I continue to buy these Stafford Performance "Super Shirts" for the ease of care, but cannot say they are a good value due to the poor wear factor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from they changed the fit My mistake, I went to a Penny store nearby to get the dress shirts I have been wearing for decades and of course they only had one since inventories appear to be disappearing lately (not due to sales). I spoke with a clerk and I commented about the inventory and she offered to tell me that they also changed the sleeve cut and that it was a 'tailored' fit. I bought the one shirt then went back to work and ordered several more on line. When I got them I was very disappointed to find out that the tailored sleeve really meant that the shirst are impossible to move in. My forearms were literally wrapped tight by the sleeve. They are very uncomforatable and my forearms are not big by any means. I'll need to return all the shirts and find a new source going forward. Pennys has been a huge disappointment in last couple years and I can't afford to buy what I thought would be a consistent product only to find they change things up in a bad way. Do not but stafford shirts!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from JCP Changed the Sizing and Lost Me as Customer I had been buying these Stafford shirts for many years. In fact, they were the only dress shirts I would buy. Mostly because of the stretchable collar button and I could always rely on their proper fit. When they would get worn, I would replace them with the same style and size, which is what I did on my latest purchase. Sadly, when I put them on, I realized that the sizing was totally different then it use to be. They were so tight that I could not move my arms. I returned them all. I had read similar complaints from other reviewers but did not heed their warnings. They replaced what they use to call "Classic Fit" with what they now call "Regular Fit". Why would JCP do this? Did they change manufacturers? Are they trying to reduce costs by using less material? Although JCP carries other brands, I will have to shop for those other brands elsewhere - it's the principle of the thing. Does anyone know of another brand that has the stretchable collar button?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO JCP? What a disappointment! I wear these (prior to change) shirts daily and have been a loyal customer of JC Penny for over fifty years. I've never seen such a drastic negative change in quality in such a prominent retail chain that I can recall. As noted previously, the quality and fit are just not evident in this product anymore and even if I was still interested in purchasing this shirt, the color choices are extremely limited-unless you're into alternately wearing white and blue. After all these years of building a reputation as a premier workingman's clothier, to promote a product of this quality is certainly a shame. I would adamantly NOT reccommend it. Although the pricing has been substantially lowered, I would pay more for better quality/fit. I assume I will be shopping elsewhere. I am also disappointed that there's no "star rating" for quality-which has clearly declined.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad cut I want to like this shirt. The quality of the fabric, features like stretchable top button, high quality buttons, etc., but the fact remains this shirt has an incorrect cut. It is *very* tight on the forearm (to the point I can't cover my watch), and tight in the shoulders. The under-arm is undercut so when raising arms it pulls really tight. I tried a bigger size just to understand the problem. I am normally a 16 neck 34-35 sleeve. I tried the 17 neck 34-35 sleeve and found while the neck is extra loose, the tightness in the forearm, shoulder, and armpit still exist. The cut is called regular. The Athlete and Fitted will not fit at all. I am a regular sized guy, not considered large. Other brands with 16 neck, and 34-35 sleeve fit well. Beware when purchasing, as I ordered 8 online, had them all laundered then realized the issue. Too late to return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband likes the stretch button collar. I have been purchasing Stafford Performance Broadcloth Dress Shirts for 15 years for my husband. The price, when on sale, is great. His size is X-Tall, 17, 38 - 39. Some reviews on smaller sizes are saying the sizes are not true to the size they order. But I haven't noticed the problem with the size I order. I do iron the shirts, the material is thin and he especially notices this on the elbow of his writing arm. But for the price, I appreciate that the shirts are long enough so that the shirt stays tucked in, the sleeves are long enough, and the shirts look great on! Thank goodness for JCP. My only request would be that I would like to see more color selections. My husband likes blue, white and black so maybe a narrow white and light blue thin striped shirt (which was available a couple of years ago) would cause me to increase my purchases. When shoppers can find the size/good fit, color and price, they will order more! (P.S. why does the navy shirt have white buttons)?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I no longer love these shirts. I wear dress shirts six days a week. For the last few years, I have worn these shirts and I have loved them. Today, I received in the mail six more to replace my old ones. However, I only opened one to make sure that everything was okay. I was a little concerned because I had read a few reviews from other long-time users about the new shirts being too thin. Turns out they were right. The shirt feels thin in my hands and also when I tried it on after washing. As an experiment, I took an old one and held it up to the bathroom light to see how much light came through. I then did the same with the new shirt, and the difference was dramatic. The new shirt is much thinner. I am going to keep the shirt I opened and washed, but the others are going back tomorrow. I am very disappointed because I now have to find another brand of dress shirts. I really loved these shirts.

No. This one doesn't have the button down collar. That option is available, but it's not this specific shirt. I own some of each.

Answer:
Regular shirts are good for dudes that have a six pack of brews rather than six pack abs(best for husky guys and even just guys with similar sized chest and waist). They have a lot more slack around the waist and would leave a lot of excess shirt for skinnier guys. Personally, my chest is wider than my waist by several inches so I order the fitted and it is a much better fit. I haven't tried the athletic so I can't speak to those. For all I know, they would fit even better. But I'm satisfied with the fitted so I go that route.

Answer:
Regular is just regular. Fitted will be good if you're skinny, but not really muscular. If you have an athletic build, with broad shoulders, then athletic would be good (or regular). I'm not a very muscular person, but I do have broad shoulders, and fitted is just too tight in the shoulders and across the upper back, which results in really short sleeves whenever I reach for something or sit down to write/type at a computer. Same size in athletic fits well, but I don't quite have large enough arms to fill out the sleeves, so the sleeves look a bit baggy on me. The arm holes (arm pit area) are also smaller in fitted.

Search men's dress shirts on JCPenney.com and it states at the top the difference between the regular, fitted, slim and athletic. There is even a video!

Answer:
For Travel - they appear to be slightly tighter than other Stafford Performance shirts. Athletic is Slim - Fitted is just slightly narrower than regular but I'd recommend that you get Regular in this style unless you have a narrow waist.

Fitted must be for skinny guys because I am not fat and I can hardly button a fitted shirt. However, regular fits me just fine. Can't comment on athletic, perhaps I should try it sometime (ego booster size?)

Answer:
If you are a young man who works out each day, is slender and carries a straight frame, the athletic shirt is for you. It accentuates your lean, healthy body and is never baggy.
The fitted shirt is for anyone who is very conscientious of wearing neat clothes that look nearly tailored for one's physique. When tucked in, there is less fabric that is hanging near the waistline.
The regular is a comfortable shirt that any man can wear but may not be as flattering if your body looks good in the fitted or athletic shirt. Any Stafford Travel Performance Super Shirt will be an asset for any man's body shape. With the excellent fabric of the Super Shirt and the elastic top button that never chokes a gentleman any Super Shirt will be the one you most often will take off the hanger to wear again and again!

Answer:
For this shirt, the Regular fit is more boxy -- more room through the waist and hips. The Fitted shirt has a little less room through the waist and hips. And the Athletic is the most figure-hugging.
