Rated 3 out of 5 by Great features, poor execution I wear dress shirts with ties daily for the past 30 years. I have purchased mostly these for the past 10+ years. I love that I can machine wash and then pull these from the dryer during the tumble cool down cycle and have zero need to iron them. They are wrinkle free. My difficulty with these shirts is that the collar tips and cuff edges wear through the colored exterior very quickly. These shirts are different than others I own in that the fabric color does not appear to be dyed all the way through the fabric like other brands, so when they wear a little in the washer/dryer the white underlayer is exposed to show through at the collar tips and cuff edges. Even when my other brands of shirts do become worn at the tips and edges they do not expose a white underlayer in this way, I think because the color is dyed all the way through the fabric. I continue to buy these Stafford Performance "Super Shirts" for the ease of care, but cannot say they are a good value due to the poor wear factor. August 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stafford travel performance super shirt The shirt fit - better than expected. I've recently lost a lot of weight - and none of my old dress shirts fit - they were baggy and the collars too big. this one is great - and I'll order more - just wish they came in more selection of colors. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shirt I use this shirt for work and love it. Over the years, these shirts have become kind of my uniform (I am not required to wear a uniform for work) because of how resilient they are. April 10, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice shirt Stafford makes some of the best dress shirts for men. The shirts are durable and have a great selection of style and colors. The patterned shirts do tend to fade a bit quickly versus the single color shirts. Overall though, the shirts are of high quality and you can usually get them for a great price (BOGO). Rated 5 out of 5 by Stafford Holds Up Best I've bought plenty of dress shirts over the years, but I've found Stafford shirts hold up best - especially in the wash. I have an issue with my collars picking up and showing surface oils. Every brand gets discolored when I use prewash treatments on the collars, except Stafford. It holds the color naturally. I also like that I never have to iron and that the shirts come in a fitted choice which is better for my build with wider shoulders and a tapered torso. The only drawback is that sometimes it's difficult to find variety in my neck size and sleeve length, but I suppose that's probably my fault for having longer arms! March 20, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Arms are cut smaller than previous. We have bought these shirts for 20 years and loved them. So we did not hesitate to buy 5 more. But when my husband tried them on the sleeves were cut two inches narrower than in the previous ones. I took those back and bought 5 more of a different style and they too were too tight in the forearm. My husband is not a large person. He has worn the same size 17-32-33 all these years and now we are trying to find a new shirt that fits in the forearm. Everything else seems to fit the same except the forearms. It seems a very strange place to cut back on. December 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfecy choice I thought I would have a hard time finding the navy shirts my son wanted his groomsmen to wear, but I found these easily online. The color was perfect. We needed a true navy blue that would go nicely with his Coast Guard dress uniform. The guys just would not have looked right in tuxes at this wedding. I got their Dockers online too. I think they looked great. June 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Athletic cut improving...but still not where it was In 2010 and 2011, the athletic cuts of these shirts fit like a dream, and the material was above-average when compared to the cost of the shirt. I'm 5'9", 160 and muscular - no other off-the-shelf shirt has ever fit me as good as the old Stafford athletic cut shirts. The last few years these shirts have been totally re-sized and fit comically tight, notably in the shoulders, biceps and forearms. This is mentioned quite a bit within other reviews. It's as if the measurements of the athletic cut style were re-styled to fit puppets with uniform torsos and string-bean arms. Ordered 6 of these recently in hopes the issue had finally been fixed. It has been for the most part, but the shirts still don't match the proportions of the older athletic cut design and the material has gone WAY down in quality. The material feels very processed - almost as if the shirt is deliberately made to be rough and feel like paper to the touch Before JCPenney's 'Broadcloth' was 100% cotton, it is not a 55/45 blend of cotton/polyester. This results in a far rougher feel - anyone who doesn't wear undershirts would probably want to avoid the 55/45 blend altogether. That all being said, at the right price they're still a good value because they do fit my body great and require no tailoring. They aren't as soft as they used to be, they don't fit the way they used to, they won't last as long (the material is thinner than ever). A few more notes about the athletic cut of this shirt: -The forearms are still VERY tight and the shoulders/sleeves don't fit they way they used to in 2010 (comparing to the same size of course). -Somehow the best-fit sleeve length for me is now 34/35 where before it was 33/34. Others may want to try this trick to get the shirts to fit a little better in the arms. -The downgraded material is extremely noticeable. It feels way rougher, is way thinner and more see-through. A picture of the label stating the 55/45 blend is attached; the breakdown of the blend is NOT listed online. BOTTOM LINE: If you like slim-fitting shirts and have a slim, athletic V-shaped body, these shirts can fit the bill at a fair price but don't even approach the borderline-premium look they used to have. JCPENNEY PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR OLD STANDARDS OR RESTART YOUR ENTIRE STAFFORD DRESS SHIRT LINE. September 15, 2013
