Rated 2 out of 5 by Tried first single cup I just got this coffee pot in the mail. I see that the box is upside down at my door step. I first think, oh great is broken. I open it up and it looks fine. I was so excited to make my first cup of coffee. I open the lid to pour water in and there two piece of of the coffee pot just floating in there not attached to anything. I can see where it goes so I put it back and it was fine. I tried to make the single cup and it keeps popping up error. I followed directions. Emptied out the water and tried again. I'm ready to just return it and not get a coffee pot from jcpenney. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product for the price I purchased this coffee maker because I wanted my husband and myself to be able to make an individual cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate instead of a whole carafe full at times. After reading a lot of reviews about different brands of coffee makers I decided to go with the Hamilton Beach. The price was much lower and the product gets good reviews. The coffee is very good from this machine and is piping hot which is how we like it. The only problem we have had is with the Swiss Miss chocolate pods. When trying to use them we put the pod in and the top doesn't puncture, just the bottom. That being the case all you get is a cup of lightly colored hot water. You have to take the pod out afterward and dump the chocolate mixture in the cup and stir with a spoon. It does the coffee pods just the way it's supposed to and makes a good cup of coffee with the pods. We will try to find another brand of pods for the hot chocolate and see if it's just the Swiss Miss pods that gives us a problem. Overall the Hamilton Beach is a great product for the money and we are happy with it. January 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Met my expectations I love it. It took less than 5 min to set up and so like the ease of use. I've had two Keurigs- which I did enjoy- but neither lasted over a year even with the great staff at their company. It just got old constantly troubleshooting. I love the dual features and so does my family- win win for all of us. Works great, quiet and makes a great cup of Joe! Kudo's Hamilton Beach! June 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by i bought it I have had a Keurig and a Cuisinart K cup coffee maker. I have ruined both because of using tap water to make coffee. I think the expensive filters you have to buy for the coffee makers should be enough and not have to use distilled water too. I bought this maker because I like the double feature of pot verses single cup. With the HB unit every cup of K cup coffee I make has grounds in it. It does make hot coffee. I add creamer and its still hot. I had to reheat my coffee with the Keurig ( whatever version that was new 5 years ago) The Cuisinart was the best, but most expensive, but it was only a single cup. I guess I need to wait until Cuisinart makes a dual unit. I have resigned myself to grounds with every cup. Its cheap compared to the others. Its speed in making the K cup/pot of coffee is average to slow. If it wasn't for the grounds in every cup! I would give this a much better rating. February 7, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Lasted Less than 9 months Purchased this item in February of 2015, was fine at first nice features worked great. After about 3 months of daily use notice that the "lid" where you open to add water and the coffee grounds for the carafe section was starting to warp. Then about 5 months after that I got up made coffee left the room for a few minutes came back and there was coffee all over the floor, counter, etc. The coffee had leaked out of the bottom of the unit. And I cleaned it regularly, using an approved coffee maker cleaner. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. May 4, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Excellent coffee maker short term I really love the features. Great coffee maker. Bought two Christmas's ago. Even after descaling, it failing. Maybe add a little more durability. April 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love My Coffee Maker My purchase was easy to purchase from the JC Penney website and arrived earlier than expected. The coffee maker works beautifully. I love the single cup separate option. This option save time on busy mornings. Love that the clock does not stop working when you change from the cafe brew to the single cup brew. April 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best maker in years I purchased Cuisinart, didn't last but 1 year, then a DeLonghi, very poor design and absolutely NO customer service at all, would not return two inquiries. Returned for refund. Purchased the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew and this is it. Pours great, doesn't dip all over counter, easy to use works GREAT! The K-cup brews a little slow, but that's fine. Other reviews talk about a plastic taste, but ours does not. I think it was the model previous to this one. I recommend this product. Very satisfied. February 3, 2016

Answer:
I think any cup that holds 14 ounces or less works well. This coffee seems to make single cups rater well. Its name flex brew is honest an works well. It also makes it possible to use regular cups, mugs and taller travel cups. I love it, have only had it several months but it seems it will hold up pretty well also. You also can use ground coffee or k-cupa with included adapters.
