Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent buy We are very pleased with this purchase. The ice cream maker has been fun to use and makes great ice cream and frozen yogurt. We have made multiple batches of both. We are really surprised at how simple this machine makes the process. The prep time of the recipe takes far more effort than using the machine itself. Once the recipe is mixed you simply add it to the machine, add ice and salt, turn it on and the machine turns itself off when the churning is complete. We have found the 4 quart size to be a bit too much for just the two of us. We are making fresh ice cream and yogurt with shorter expiration dates and, even while loving in the heat of Arizona, we can't finish it all. This is a high quality treat maker and well worth the money spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just In Time For Summer One never fully knows what is in commercial deserts, so I value having a device with which I can make my own now that I am retired, and living in the south. The machine does what it says, and so far I am pleased with its performance and construction!

Answer:
Thank you for your question. If ingredients are less than the fill line level the unit will not stop churning. We do not recommend making smaller batches in this unit.
