Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I love this cooker!!!! Very easy to use and heats up fast. I have four children and we are always on the go so for those days when we wont make it home til late this makes it easy to slap something together even at the last minute! Cooks a whole chicken to perfection full of flavor moist and just falling apart! I like to throw in a whole chicken with carrots around it some potatoes simply cut in half place the therm. in set the heat for it to be cooked to which it comes with the heat settings for several diff types of meat and out the door we go. Takes me 10 to 15 min to have a entire dinner! We leave and when we get home we walk in to a wonderful yummy smell and a nice fresh hot meal which is greatly appreciated after a busy day when your hungry and all you want to do is eat and sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good crockpot We have been having trouble with crock pots overheating and burning food since we don't cook large portions. I have tried three. This one still gets hot like the rest (due to new food safety requirements needing to get to 165 in two hours) but doesn't seem to burn the food as badly. I really like the two latches that keep the lid on if you take it out of the house. Never thought I would use that but for a house party the other day I used that feature and didn't worry about my sauce slopping all over the car. Good features and timer. Still seems kind of cheap on the control side of it. Temp prob is a really nice feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The electronics failed on the third use. Nice features, including the secure top, but the early abject failure of the electronics on the third use virtually requires that I pan this. I returned it under warranty to JCP wiith no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product overall I own this slow cooker also and I know how easy it is to use. I got this one to give to my daughter to save her time and money!!! She has 4 children from 13 to 4 years of age and works 25 miles from home. 50 miles round trip, so it is hard to get a dinner together in time and still have time to do all the other activities that involve school programs for the kids. This allows her to start a dinner before work and have it ready upon arrival. Also, she can buy cheaper cuts of meat and bulk quantities and the dishes come out tender and juicy and delicious. She useds it at least 3 times a week. My grand daughter loves being able to help out in the kitchen also and she enjoys finding new receipies for the slow cooker, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! As a senior citizen using this slow cooker is great. Put in all ingredients that the recipe calls for set the timer and heat setting when I get up in the morning and my dinner is ready when my husband and I are ready to eat. I also have enough left to freeze for another meal. The added feature is the temperature probe when you need to make sure that a particular meat/poultry item has reached the right internal temperature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it We use our slow cooker quite often and we love this one. The auto-switch to warm is an excellent feature. The lock-down lid is handy for taking to church potlucks, etc. the probe is a nice feature. The only 2 improvements I would make are being able to switch from high to low after a certain amount of time, and being able to delay the start time.

Some crockpots get really hot on the outside. I want one that does not. Whether it's me or a child, I don't want anyone getting burned because the outside of the pot was touched!

Answer:
This Hamilton Beach Set & Forget Programmable Slow Cooker gets warm to the touch but not hot enough to cause a burn, of course it is an electric appliance and would be uncomfortable to leave your hand on the sides any length of time And yes it IS stainless steel. It is the easiest to use slow cooker I've ever owned. LOVE IT!!!!
