Rated 1 out of 5 by doesthisnamework Very poor quaility
I've used this slow cooker half a dozen times now. It definitely runs hot - the "Low" setting is way too high and the "High" setting is more like "Turbo Heat". This was going to be my main slow cooker, but it looks like I'll go back to my trusty 10-year-old 6 quart and just use this 8 quart for when we entertain and can leave it only on the "Keep Warm" setting.
The base feels like a very flimsy tin can. I can see it getting dented very easily. Also it doesn't sit evenly - one "leg" is shorter than the other three. I ended up putting rubber pads on the feet because it slides too easily. I was seriously worried it would slide off the counter if my kids bumped it.
I like the lid-rest feature but I did notice that because the base is so light, if you lift the crock out of the base while the lid is in the lid-rest, the base tips backwards.
I won't be returning it, only because I used a gift card that was set to expire so it didn't cost me much, however I definitely wouldn't pay anywhere near full price for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TheOneCurly Exactly what I was looking for
It's a slow cooker. The large size is fantastic for a weeks worth of chili, large cuts of meat, or anything else. My only warning is the low heat setting gets hotter than you might expect when the container isn't full.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nglcla 8 qt slow cooker w lid rest
slow cooker worked well. it is kind of heavy. lid rest works well. cooked well enough. slow cooker bags were a bit small for it, but we managed to get them to work. it did not hold a turkey as well as I had hoped, so I just lopped off the backbone and side ribs, and that allowed me to cook the turkey in the slow cooker. Actually, it eliminated virtually all of the tiny bones that end up in the liquid when a turkey is cooked in a slow cooker.
It was hard to cut the turkey, but after that --- it was smooth sailing. I ended up using the liquid to make turkey gumbo afterwards. (according to my son in law, the best gumbo he's ever eaten.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dar2bdif The Slow Cooker size is Terriffic!
My 77 year old Mother had the same slow cooker for years. The cooker went out right before the Holidays. All she wanted for Christmas was another slow cooker. After much research, I found this Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker at JCP. It was perfect! I had such a hard time finding a slow cooker this size. She loves the larger sized cookers so she can cook roasts and large size meats in it. Being 77 years old, she is not too electronic savvy. This cooker is so easy and simple to use. No hard to understand electronics. Just set and cook. She loves this Slow Cooker. Thank you for making this replacement possible JCP. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by ginanana1 I was really tired of the same old size, 5 qt, 6 qt and even the 7 qt wasn't working for me. So since I've purchased this 8 qt -- I'm IN HEAVEN!
The extra size on it because it is an 8 at comes in so handy, I just LOVE IT! The amazing features on it make it so easy to use and understand. Now I'm able to add my extra vegetables when I'm making my pot roasts. I just absolutely love it! I'm going to purchase one for my daughter and her family because leftovers cone in very handy to her, seeing how she is a working mom and it's hard for her to prepare meals everyday. Thank you for the wonderful design and size!

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2ktuco A BIGGER crock pot
This crock pot satisfied our need for a bigger crock.
The addition to the electrical control of a "keep warm" position is quite fine. I suppose though that the combination lid tilt and cord retainer is sort of awkward for an old fashioned cook.
It did not come with a plastic dust cover, but the sale PRICE was right!

Rated 5 out of 5 by sweetcajun This cooker has plenty of room to cook 2 pork roasts
I love this cooker. I cooked pulled pork on low and it was perfectly cooked through and not dry at all.
