Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't last I bought these a year ago. I did not wear them everyday. They both developed splits in the leather in the same spot, one of them expanding into an L shape. I like the boots I hope they stand behind them, I have owned many pairs of hitech hikers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boots on the market! I have been wearing Alitudes for 15 years. Only complaint, the men's are a better quality than the women's and the altitude V is not as comfortable or durable as the iv. We stick with the iv!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not the same boot.. This is my 4th pair of altitude IV, and this pair is different. The footbed is thinner, and boots feel broke down already after one month. I also bought the altitude V a couple months ago, thinking they would be better. Not so the V 's have less of a cushioning footbed. So now I have two pair of uncomfortable boots.Hitec what has changed with the IV ? Sorry but I have to move on to another brand, its to bad because the price on these boot's are good. But I have two pair of boots that are no good, when I could have bought one better pair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dri-Tec membrane makes these boots un-wearable I have been wearing different versions of the Altitude boot for several years. They are comfortable, fit well, and require almost no break in. The soles wear out fairly quickly, but with their low price I don't mind that. The problem is the Dri-Tec membrane. It is basically like wrapping your feet in Saran Wrap. My feet are always clammy and wet. When I take the boots off my socks are visibly wet. The Altitude used to come without the Dri-Tec membrane, but that version is no longer available. I won't buy this or any other boot with the Dri-Tec membrane. It's too bad, but Hi-Tec figured out a way to ruin a really good boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT I've had these boots for around 2 years and I have no more tread left, blown out one of the sides. I love these boots but its time to retire them. I've used them in all sorts of weather ranging from ice cold mud hot summer days. My boots have been up about 6 different mountains including half-dome. I used them for work on a tractor, welding, working for 10 hours straight in an almond orchard. I use them to hunt, and they protect my feet from falling objects such as wood logs. You won't go wrong with these!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality not what it used to be : ( I've been wearing these hi-tec boots for a long long time, and have always been very happy with the comfort and durability. The last pair I bought though was disappointing and I can't even wear them they hurt my feet so much. The problem is that where my toes meet the inside of the boot there is no padding, only hard plastic. The pair I was going to replace them with had a lot of soft durable padding in the toe area. I didn't save the receipt so I couldn't return them. I contacted Hi tec but their customer service department never responded. I can't afford to buy another pair, so I'm still wearing the old pair Put your hand inside and if the toe region is hard, don't buy them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Medium is tight, don't get larger if you are wide. I bought these from Bass Pro a few months ago, on sale, and they fit great in the store, I bought a 1/2 size larger (11 1/2) when I got them as they did not carry wide, and now I'm wishing I had simply passed them by. Why? After a while on local trails (no long distance hikes until they break in) they started cramping my toes and causing foot pain. (I'm past the 60 day comfort guarantee -- blast it), but really wish I had investigated getting the wide from the website. Moral of the story? Don't 'settle' just because it's a great boot, has a great reputation and is on sale. Get what you need, and this is not what I need. On the plus side, I have trouble with shoes that have built in arches, and this has a relatively flat foot-bed, which allows me to use my own molded insole. So far, I haven't need them, the comfort (except for the toes) is great. I just completed a five mile hike that ended with the last 1/4 in a thunderstorm, and the waterproofing worked superbly. My feet were the only part of me that stayed dry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap sole materials didn't last a year I bought this boot thinking it would make a good work boot. I think from the first day I wore them the soles started to loose chunks of materials peel around the edges. The uppers seem to be good well made. These are less than a year old.
