Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nightmare installation Installing this was a nightmare. No window is perfectly round, but this fits only a perfectly round window. We had to cut it a bit shorter to fit it in the window, which we finally figured out. But then the weight of it caused the fabric to bend and collapse in on itself in the middle, so it has clumps of dark compressed areas. Nothing we did could smooth these out. The nails were impossible so it is mounted just with the sticky tape provided. It does not look good. But, of course, we can't return it now. If I could do it over again I would not get the insulated blind, but just the plain pleated paper one. Then it would be lighter, hold its shape, and be easier to cut to fit the window. It would still block some of the sunlight and keep the room a bit cooler even without the insulation. We may end up taking this one out and doing just that, it looks so bad. And my husband is a handy man! This was way too impossible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Arch Shades We have really liked these arch shades by Penny's. This is the 2nd set we have purchased as I took the original ones down when we painted and then sold them. Wishing I had not sold them, I went ahead and bought another set. Our arches are ALL slightly different in their height (go figure from our builder) so my husband had to shave a tiny bit off of the ends on each - but each is different. Then we used the clear sticky clips to be sure they set well and they look great. They really do help keep the west afternoon sun out of our living room and now you can actually see the TV screen. I would highly recommend these. Don't get the ones which are not honeycomb on the inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What to do when the fan doesn't quite fit... This is a beautiful fan, well-made and looks fantastic when it's mounted. When the fan was opened, it didn't quite fit the width, or the ledge, across the base of the window. Fortunately, there is one side of the fan base that has enough allowance that you can cut some off without compromising the fabric in any way. How to cut through thick plastic became my next challenge. I ended up, finally, using a hack saw to cut enough off the ends so that the fan could properly fit inside the window. It was a lot of work, but so worth it. I didn't employ all the ways to secure this in place as the directions suggest, because once it's up there and pushed back, it stays in place.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Returned! This shade is advertised as room darkening. It is definitely not. Although the shade looks nice it does not filter the light enough to make it worth while. We returned it before even installing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect!! I've had one of these in my kitchen window for over 3 years. Last week it split from the hot desert sun so I ordered a replacement. The shade needs to be trimmed to fit but that is a very simple task. These keep the light and the heat out extremely well and I am super pleased. I tried the other shade that isn't homey comb and it doesn't do nearly as well keeping the heat/sun out, though it looked just fine. Please see photos I attached. Thank you JCP for the speedy delivery and quality products. I bought five total so I always have extras since I have these installed in 4 windows. Five stars all the way around!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value product. Decent quality. Bad instructions to install. Ignore the screws, Glue it, instead. The product is decent and a great value for the price. I had problem installing the product, as per instructions provided. I could not figure out how to "attach", after the brackets are in place and screwed to the window sill/bottom frame. It seems impossible to do it. I finally ignored the instructions to screw down the brackets and I instead glued the whole assembly to the window bottom frame. If the word "attach" meant "snap in", the plastic is too hard to flex- snap. It may work okay, if the window sill protrudes (out of the wall). In which case one can "slide" the whole assembly from either side.

Can this be trimmed to fit?

My window is 64 inches wide. so the 59 inch shade is too small and 71 inch shade will be too large. I wanted to find out if I can trim the 71 inch shade can be trimmed to fit my window?
Asked by: Sheeba
It will not look right to cut a half inch off the bottom on both sides of the base in order to get the size you need. There is some allowance on the ends that fan out, the part that rests on the ledge, but the fan spray itself will be too large on the sides, I think. Plus it would be very difficult to trim this shade evenly so that it's not noticeable. For the price, though, especially when you get a good deal, maybe it's worth the risk of trying to get this to fit your opening. I recommend going big, not small, though. Small won't block the sunlight, unless you want to apply some opaque adhesive along the edge all the way around to cover the overall one inch discrepancy.

Outside color

What color are the arch cellular shades to the outside? Are they white or are they the same color as the inside color?
Asked by: M505

How do you measure fo a Cellular Shade?

How so I measure for and Arch Cellular Shade?
Asked by: Barb
Measure across the bottom of the window, the ledge part. At most, you can trim the base of this fan no more than a quarter inch on both sides, giving you a half inch reduction if your window ledge isn't true to the fan's measurement across the base. But it's tough to trim plastic. I used a hacksaw, and once cut, it fit perfectly.

Does the shade open in anyway to let light in when desired?

I'm interested in finding a arch shade that can be opened in some way to occasionally let light in directly and not be blocked by the whole shade.
Asked by: Karen
NO, they are permanent once you put them up as they are meant to stay in position.
