We live in Ct. where the winters can be very cold (low 30's or worse).
The cellular shades are an attractive way to cut down on heat loss from windows. You can really feel the cold air coming off the glass as soon as you raise the shades in the morning. We have crank-out windows, and I find the shades fit more snugly if you remove the cranks. (I just leave the cranks on the windowsill in case I had to open the window in a hurry). We have never actually monitored the heating costs since we got the shades last year, but I know the house feels a lot warmer with less drafts since we got them.
